In honour of just getting the Tango & Cash soundtrack, I whipped up a little film theme for an imaginary 1980s film, featuring two LA cops, Mango & Trash.
Mango is a by-the-book kinda guy, buff and good looking... and always looking for love! Trash is a moody and troubled young man, trying to get by, haunted by the accidental killing of his police dog one bitter night two years back.
Mango & Trash
Composed entirely in FL Studio 5 using Edirol Hyper Canvas VSTi. Not affiliated with Tango or Cash.

Ha! It's brilliant, you should do more of these fantasy 80s film soundtracks, it's very authentic sounding, genius.
I am going to write these very same words in an email to you.

Good work, very nice sound to it.. and I could just eat those drums right up. Harold would be proud.

It's thanks to you that I got this idea :)
I'm currently working on the slow sad theme, complete with 80s sax soloing :D

I don't remember anything the music in that movie (all I remember is that crazy vehicle) but I like this a lot. Although it kind of makes me think of Unsolved Mysteries, not a buddy movie.

Thanks Ophy. It's not meant to be like the music from Tango & Cash, just have a certain evocation of the soundtrack music from that time, particularly Faltermeyer's :)

It definitely works. But it sounds foreboding to me, this must be darker fare. One of the cops must bite it at the end.

The tune sounds great and is catchy, but maybe it's a little more Military Madness than buddy cop soundtrack I think.

Debbie Does Transylvania?
It's annoying that Edirol VSTis reset the instruments when you re-open them. A right pain in the backside :\

Terrific composition and orchestration. I'd love to hear what you could do with one of those crazy ass huge orchestral sample sets instead of just an edirol plug (though the sounds here definitely suit the material).

Thanks for the new listens :) I was planning on composing the 'Main Theme' for it, more in the style of Axel F et al, but the power pack on my laptop was broken (by my daughter), and it's taken nearly a month to get a new one - fiasco because HP laptops now have to have a very specific powerpack, and they don't supply it themselves... anyway, I'll get to work on it once I've completed the cover version/remix of The Everly Brothers' All I Have To Do Is Dream, which I'd started before my laptop became unusable.

was the sax played in live (with a keyboard) or pianorolled?

The sax was programmed note by note in piano roll :) I don't have a MIDI keyboard (well, I have a Roland electric piano with MIDI capability but don't use it for such), so all my stuff is programmed note by note: I actually prefer it that way.
