I just signed up for LALA.com and already have Selected Ambient Works II on its way to me.
Has anyone heard of this place or is already a member? Basically you trade CDs for 99 cents + 75 cents shipping, they send you prepaid mailers with plastic cases and you start trading with peeps anywhere in the US. Its all automated, so all you have to do is simply request an album and some cocksucker mails it to you. Anyways there are a few fuckers on there with idm/electronica.

yea totally legal. supposedly they cut out the middleman (record labels) and pay artists directly a royalty from every trade.

I've been on lala since July and I've been pretty happy with my experience there so far. The two main issues I have with the site are the trading of double disc sets (they're treated as two separate CDs so there's no way to be sure that you'll get both discs) and the artwork issues (you can request the front cover art but the tray insert isn't required for others to send you, and digipaks are an even bigger problem, although I believe there may be another option added to require all artwork soon... still, more than 90% of everything I've received has had all artwork).
I've actually received 32 discs from the site (with 2 more coming to me now) by artists like Coil, Drexciya, and Biosphere, and I've sent out albums by Richard Devine, Lusine, and B12 (actually all of those were duplicates of albums I already owned that I found cheap and bought just to trade), so it's not just trash that's being traded on there.

thats very bad since artwork is what make lots of people buy original records instead of pirating

yea i think they have 2 settings for users regarding artwork. Option A specifies that you dont care if your discs have artwork or not and Option B specifies that you will only accept cds with artwork. I dont really care since anything i trade on there I plan on ripping to FLAC then retrading the originals back onto LALA. Either way you look at it, its a hell of a lot cheaper than iTunes or any other online music store for that matter.
