Damn there's so many awesome things to try. You could make
it so that as it gets more twisty it also gets shorter or
longer. or each next 'twist section' gets wider. I really
want to try making it alternate in non linear patterns
between twisty and non twisty ALONG THE VERTICLE AXIS, then
feed it though ANOTHER that does the same thing on the
horizontal... That would be really fucked up, and probably
not completely random pixel looking because sometimes the
two out of phase twists would both be relatively non twisty
and you'd see the face fine at those moments.

pff, I bet 3d models/coding would make this method
redundant.

xlt's pictures are currently not loading, but it is a python
program jkd made that takes all the frames of something
spinning around:

normal spinning head

and slices it into rows, so that each row can be of a higher
or lower frame, thus making the thing twist around:

LAZY_TITLE

That would be even more fucked up if the original head
wasn't simply a static 3d head that was rotating, but rather
an ANIMATED 3d head that was rotating. That way this thing
twisting around would be talking and stuff while twisting.

Actually the original doesn't have to be rotating, it just
has to be changing in some way and loop to the beginning. I
can't really even imagine what it would look like if the
original was rotating in the direction of a clocks arms if
you're looking straight at a clock (instead of around like a
barbershop pole).. I guess it would look more stretched on
the right side and more squished on the left.

jkd - can I have your email.

my email address is j k d e w a r (AT) g m a i l . c o m

i'm also on msn, if you wanna cybercex. search for w h y c o
r e (AT) y a h o o . c o m

that licorice effect actually looks quite good with the
smooth spin animation!

the next step is to vary the spin, if you know what i mean.

instead of having it spin can you get it to twist? ya know
like centered on the still of the first image facing you
then animate it to twist to the left then back to center
then to the right so on and so forth?

Yeah, I want to try that eventually. Maybe exactly like my
current avatar, only the twist itself goes back and forth
from a 'normal' head to a 'clockwise twist' to a
counterclockwise. Or the center of the head could always
face you and the top half could twist left and the bottom
half right more and more then less and less, etc.

I could do other weird things like each next frame on the
next row is rotated a small amount. It'll take awhile before
I try any of this.

That's great; too bad the only decent turning gif I could
find was so lame. I still want to see what a real (and
animated) head looks like, or an entire body. The background
would be weird looking for that too. Basically any gif where
the frames are all slight changes from the previous and the
end and begiHHHHHHHHHHHHHHnning are almost identical so it
loops smoothly. (like just walk around with a video camera
on a path that ends where you started or something). If only
swears was cooler so more people would visit this thread and
see this amazing feat of pickles.

If you want many frames, just find a video of of a spinning
head and convert it to images.

Yeah, there's probably a way to download some youtube video
or something and eventually convert it to jpg files. I have
to wait until I get flash cs3 and learn actionscript 3
anyway.
