[Gear] Korg R3

Looks like its the follow up to the microkorg. They seemed
to have replaced all the lame in the microkorg with sexy.
Its black, has full keys and rotary encoders (with LED's no
less), and a more proper looking microphone that doesn't
seem like something that comes with a cheap computer.

Now I am not much of a fan of korg by any stretch of the
imagination, but this has wet my appetite.

Look at that black with red backlit menus.

Oh yeah, look at what arturia has come up with. hardware
version of all their plugins, made into a box that can
re-assemble the various modules in a similar fashion to a
nord modular. It going to cost about $3000us (which is about
as realistic to me as $300,000,000us right now).

wow. cant read the text or anything, but from the pic, that
does look like a newer sexier microkorg.

can't find if it's battery operated too.
i guess not.
and microkorg looks better to me, why is all this new gear
sooo ugly?

but miniKP is really beautiful...little nintendo/eraly video
games hardware rip off though

You liked the plastic and cheap wooden look?

I think red on black looks like sex. Its a classic
combination that always seems to work. The microkorg looked
like what it was, cheap virtual analogue. If it had been
metal with nicer wooden ends, that would have been ok. But
putting wood on the ends of anything that isn't analogue in
at least the filters seems like a bit of a sacrilege.
Unless it adds to it, like in that arturia synthesizer.

That arturia might end up in my studio at some point in
2007.... I was thinking of that or the new BoomChik.

......it's hard to say no to analogue drums.

It's sehr nice looking the R3, so is that Arturia thing but
I think that will be a bit useless.

has anyone had a go on/bought an R3 yet?

Thinking of buying one or an MS2000

the samples on the korg site for the r3 are quite enjoyable
- just look for yourself.

i'm watching this one for some time now - price is nice too.
and for sure it's worth paying that extra bucks above the
microkorg.

on the other hand - the mk has gotten very cheap lately...

evils: the microkorg has the same engine as the ms2000

but the MS2000 is considerably better than the MicroKorg
isn't it?

I think the R3 would be better over the MS2000 though - both
same price, yer see.

Hmm, for the price it doesn't give you so many other
features than the mK.

No... its the exact same synthesizer except its got a
modulations sequencer thing that the microgork doesn't have.
