Can you imagine the fucking pressure he must have goine
through?
Gervais must have been shitting himself after the office.

What I mean is he is human and it seems comedy is even more
criticized than music. And it can't live in some niche like
music. It has to work to get funding. Extras is that moment
for him. Office was almost a fluke on the surface, but
extras is proving the fluke wrong. Im imagine many artists
go through this. Making the shit is different than consuming
the shit.

yea, but someone somewhere told him he had another winner on
his hand. i mean stars were lining up to play the terrible
charactere chervais was in the office

in real life i imagine the bbc is somewhat more productive
in developing something than you see in extras

I know what you mean. I think me must have been stressed,
even if, as big says, he looked relaxed on the outside. He
actually jokes about "the difficult follow up act"
(comparing himself to God having to write the new testament,
I think) in one of his comedy shows.

"in real life i imagine the bbc is somewhat more productive

I don't understand this- do you mean they're more involved
with this than they would be in the office (contacting big
stars, more sets, etc.)?

no, maybe they didn't do anything
i'm just saying he didn't make this alone

I quite like "Extras". It's not a riot of laughs by any
means, but there's enough awkward moments and subtle humour
to keep me entertained.

I like it. Season 2 was smashing. (a line with Ronnie
Corbett anyone?)

Season 1 was excellent. Can't wait to see the second season.

Best U.K. comedy since The Office.

The Patrick Stewart cameo was amazingly funny. The show is
not as good as The Office, but that's a hard mark to beat.

Haven't watched the second season (or "Series" to you silly
Brits), but I plan on buying it as soon as I finish these
Deep Space Nine dvds.

The American version of the Office sucks pretty bad, I feel
like adding.

I am now being told that I need to watch the second season
of The Office (US) before I can pass judgment. (The first
was not so hot.)

The U.S. version of The Office is pretty good, but it's very
different (and gets more and more different) from the U.K.
version. It's become quite diluted now (so many episodes).
