New Year's Resolutions?

offline marlowe from Antarctica on 2006-12-26 16:17 [#02021472]

I've never been one to make resolutions to usher in the
dawning of a new set of 365/366 days. But to fade this year
out and fade in a better tomorrow, I've decided to
strengthen my resolve in several fields where I'm lacking,
to be a better person and to provide a richer environment
for my daughter.

Have thee any resolutions for 2007+ ?

Creating a booming business and being filthy rich. But
that's more like a new year's dream, though. Come to think
of it, I never understood the difference between dreams and
resolutions anyways. Or, I didn't want to.

Nice one. I am going to spend more money on vco monosynths
this next year.

So which company are you going to go with?

PS. Synthesizers.com has a nice entry level system that can
be had for $1200 in 12 monthly instalments (you can start
building after your second month, and it becomes functional
very soon thereafter).

A Paia entry level modular goes for $450. Its the cheapest
solution, but on its own its very limiting, as you just get
2 VCO, 2 VCF and 2 VCA that are somewhat pre-wired. But its
frac rack, and there are about 3 or 4 other companies that
use the same format, so your options are somewhat open.

I'm doing this DIY, so I won't be going to any manufacturers
UNLESS they're producing a wonder module. Modcan's CV
Recorder is one of these, you can use it as a CV sampler
which is just awesome.
I'll be building Ken Stone's CGS modules from kits, with a
few MFOS modules thrown in too.

Well, not just monosynths, and not all VCO. But here is a
bit of a list I have in mind. I am definately going to be
getting the first two.

Concertmate MG1
Sequential Circuits Six Trak
Sequential Circuits Pro One
Arp Axxe
Korg Mono/Poly
Korg Prophecy
Paia Fatman
Yamaha CS01

I am also looking into the DIY area, but not so much. I am
always looking towards it tho. If I go DIY, it will probly
be mostly effects. I have an idea for a multieffect unit
that could kick ass.
