two of the best (pop)albums of last year are classified by allmusic.com as sexless and i think this is pretty weird and possibly wrong, but mostly i don't know what to think. maybe allmusic is losing it. maybe i'm not used to reading (partly) negative reviews on allmusic. maybe i'm bewildered allmusic uses such a strange, non-objective, criterium. what do you think? |

They're not sexless, but they promote some kind of ideal of fake, plastic eroticism. Plastic as in the material, nice and smooth and utterly soulless. It makes me very unconfortable, and I got very nervous watching the video for Sexy Back and I had to stop it and go out and touch the ground to remind myself that not all was smooth and made of plastic. |

i don't know about 'sexless' but something about the weird sexy marketing strategy on those two is a bit unsettling |

I don't mind her voice so much, it's more the way she bumps up against the guy in the video in a laughably unsexy way, like some 14 year old girl at a disco trying to impress a man several years her senior. |
