I've been on a super-nostalgia trip lately, bringing
records from my childhood back to the listening cycle
(Gullars, Leonard Cohen, The Kinks, Jan Eggum, Screamin' Jay
Hawkins, Buena Vista Social Club, Ry Cooder, Muddy Waters
and many many more), and I've been remembering stuff me and
my friends used to do and we've been telling stories and..
well, I just feel great whenever I do this! However, I get
the feeling it may, for that very reason, not be nostalgia,
as nostalgia often seems to be connected with being sad or
wanting to go "back to when..." or something.

Anyway, what tops it off right now is I've gone home to my
parents for christmas and I'm looking through old records
and finding more and more stuff I remember from when I was a
kid and I'm having a great time! There's also the usual
stuff, the smell of christmas, etc etc.

Has (or is it have?) anyone else been getting back to their
previous habits lately?

don't ask and you shall receive anyway

sheep ribs dried and put in salt and stored for some time
then put in water to make the salt go away and then it's
steamed. Add to this a sort of sausage and potatoes and a
pea mash thing and a mash of that weird root thingie that's
orange on the inside, lots of beer and akevitt, some
mandarins and a tree in the living room.

all the music is awesome! The hip-hop is great, and I've got
some hip-hop artists to be nostalgic about too! The best
part is that all of the stuff I'm digging up again is
vinyl!

however, it isn't really about habits, it's just.. some of
the music was - and still is - childrens music.. like
Gullars, and I just forgot the record existed. Then I
found it and that's what triggered all of it.

Don't you get some good feeling inside if you hear a song
that was popular when you were a kid or something?

shows i watched as a kid maybe..like twin peaks or
something.

well, i'm going home to my parents' house now.. I guess
that's nostalgic and unusual for me. I only go home at most
once or twice per year.. so yeah, this is it. this is what i
do for that "nostalgia rush".
bye.

it's kind of hard keeping it all up properly, though..
there's been a great deal of good releases since I was a
kid, and if I were to keep everything on a steady rotation,
I just wouldn't make it to anything new.

part of the problem is that i never really had a song that
would be specially dear to me. i always listened to quite a
bit of music which helped i didn't get attached to a few
songs maybe..i know what you mean though.

a great song!

I've got loads of new music recently so I'm not very
nostalgic, christmas normally gets me nostalgized but this
one is looking like it will be a bit of a non event.

I live in nostalgia. Every year I gain I go back two
culturally. For me it's currently 1979.

Nostalgia is a cornerstone of my existence, be it through
music or old video games or old comics or old toys or old
movies, I'm a packrat and I never throw anything away and I
always do new things with the thought process of ''I wonder
what kind of emotional legacy this will leave on me''.

I love when music gets tied to esoteric old memories. Like
specific Goldeneye multi-player duels that I can remember
play-by-play when I listen to the Metallica song we were
listening to at the time.

looking for it a while back, but we didn't find anything

husker du den dukkegreien med "pernille og herr nielson"
eller hva det nå var? jeg vet det er en plate med det her
et sted, men jeg klarer ikke å finne den!

hahaha, I've gathered as much, and I also think you have the
kind of nostalgia that makes you resent the now a little
bit.. don't worry, it'll get better.

ah yeah I know the feeling.. however, cornerstones of
existence are never a good thing. I'll just assume you
didn't mean it too literally...

it sure is! it sends me straight into "staring out into the

while vorspieling lately

but do you really remember colargol? i'm five years older
then you (i think) and can hardly remember it.. maybe it was
aired later on while i had converted to 1/2-sju or something

I remember it somewhat, but it's probably from a later
airing or just that I saw it somewhere.. I mean, I'm
probably not really "old enough" to be nostalgic about cohen
or muddy waters or anything like that, but it isn't when you
were born, but what was around you that counts. My dad
listened a lot to blues, so I keep on hearing lots of blues
songs that I almost even know the lyrics to (even though you
couldn't tell them apart unless you knew you'd heard them
before; usual blues scheme, etc).. I was born in 84, so I
probably weren't around for most of these things'
"beginning," but.. yeah.. I'm still nostalgic about it. What
I remember most about colargol is the stuffed toy, and I
guess he could've gotten it from his brother (which, by the
way, is five years older).
