...of today, or of this week....whatever.

And please say WHY, don't just copy/paste

example: The Cure "catch"
why: cause the melody and the whole mood of the track is
sweet and/or awesome and when you hear it you melt inside
and think about the first time you kissed a girl etc.

Quotes from lyrics are most welcome too.

Thank you.

Leonard Cohen- I'm your man (the entire album, though, not
just the song).

modest mouse - ocean breathes salty

because of the lines

Well that is that and this is this.
Will you tell me what you saw and I'll tell you what you
missed,
when the ocean met the sky.
You missed when time and life shook hands and said goodbye.

When the earth folded on itself.

fantastic song

Bathory- Necromansy

I'm in a really old-school black metal mood, and this is
probably my favorite metal song ever. Bathory's first album
is one of the few things that sound legitimately evil to me,
recorded in some pit somewhere.

It really is a toss up between "View to a kill" by Duran
Duran and "The Living Daylights" by A-Ha, I have had the
Bond themes CD on repeat .. again. *drums fingers*
... you know I'm going with A-Ha.

why: I think they capture a class pop song with the Bond
atmosphere of big budget intrigue, the lyrics are thoughtful
whereas the Duran Duran ones are a bit lumpen, cod
pretention. AND THE SAX bit at (memo to dog_belch sub, check
track time (sure.. 3:05 ) which I think is just one
note, or blart, just lifts it into the stratosphere.

"Comes the morning and the headlights fade in rain
Of hundred thousand people I'm the one they frame.
I've been waiting long for one of us to say:
Save the darkness
let it never fade away -
In the living daylights"

This might be a good moment to ask: is there a CD
compilation of Bond title themes ? I suppose there is, even
in Japan ...!

I'd say chi-kah-dah, with the "ch" being a sound as in
charming.

TODAY:

The Knife "Pass This On" sound/video

Works like a drug for me. The idea to combine drag-queen
singing this song in a room full of str8 lads that started
to dance with him is very trippy. This track works best with
the picture :)

i'm in love with your brother

Radiohead - Where I End And You Begin

I just love the way the singing starts out like its going to
be quite droney like a lot of that album is, but he quickly
gets into the "I'm sorry for us, the dinosaurs roam the
earth" bit, and the bass cuts out momentarily which sounds
amazing for some reason... and then it just gets better "X
will mark the place, like a parting of the waves". And also
the drums sound brilliant. I've had to listen to this a lot
lately, I don't know how people can think this album isn't
as good as their others.

Information Society - Tomorrow

.. prolly..

although for sheer thrill factor, I think 'Bullet' by Fluke
is pretty tough to beat.

Nina Simone - Everyone's Gone To the Moon

Because everyone seems crazy to me during this days...

It goes like this:

Streets full of people all alone.
Rows full of houses never home.
Church full of singing but it's out of tune.
Everyone's gone to the moon.

Eyes full of sorrow never wet.
Hands full of money all in debt.
Sun disappears in the middle of June.
Everyone's gone to the moon.

Long time ago life had begun
and everyone went to the sun.

Hearts full of motors painted green.
Mouths full of chocolate-covered dreams.
Mobs that can only lift a spoon.
Everyone's gone to the moon.
Everyone's gone to the moon.
Everyone's gone to the moon.

the week before last week it was
utopia - me, giorgio by giorgio moroder
the disco bassline dum duduDUdedi, dum duduDUdedi
pushes you up, then the chorus lifts you more and more till
you believe that you can fly
theres also some other high pitched kling klang synth that
goes so right along, i still cant believe how everything
fits so perfectly just repeating the same chords over and
over with a little change in pitch up and down with the
chorus, then a rare add of reverb...
listened to it two times in a row while writing and it still
doesnt lose its fascination

if anyone knows something similar which i am sure there isnt
because its unique for sure, please dont hesitate to
post...

one week later i totally fell for "togehter in electric
dreams"
also by giorgio
"though your miles and miles away
i see you every day,
i dont have to try
i just close my eyes, i close my eyes,
well always be together
however far it seems, love never ends
well always be together
together in electric dreams"

cheesy music but sometimes you need a song like that
sometimes cheese diplays feelings for someone best

My favorite song of all time must be "Hitherto" and "The
Itchy Glowbo Blow" by Cocteau Twins. Why? It's dramatic and
intensely sincere.

This week: "So What" by Miles. Love the Coltrane solo on
that, and the main theme is just so stylish and catchy at
the same time.

I've been listening to "Requiem of the Gods" from
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (just because I've been
in a Castlevania mood lately) and Dead Kennedys' "Kill the
Poor."
