anybody got good tips for mixing down a track that's way too
loud? this particular instrument sounds weak in the final mix, after bouncing it down in the program (fl studio) to .wav
maybe i should treat the track with that instrument sepperately after bouncing down the rest, but i guess then the relationships between the instruments go wrong.
i can't turn down the overall volume because of distortion that doesn't work then anymore..

send the instrument track and a bus of all the others separatedly to a compressor. when instrument comes in, compressor should allow some "space" for him.
maybe.

yea maybe, treat that track sepperately there's more than one instrument like 5db over 0db though, i don't know really because fl studio's meter only seems to go to + 1db. funny thing is the maximizer/limiter just doesn't work then anymore. originally i was glad i could just export to .wav to get everything up to no more then 0 db, without audible damage (i suppose i miss stuff like low though)
from now on ill be a good boy and make the track soft before all the mixing
