what do you guys (especially the ones who have actuall
acounts on myspace) think of it?

for example - did it actually help you to spread your music
or are there any other advantages of it?

friends just keep asking me all the time why i still haven't
made myself an account but every time i look at one of those
myspace sites the layout just creeps me out so much.

also - there seems to be so much of crap there that it seems
impossible to find something really good there.

Me and my cousin made lots of new friends there. We drink
tea with all of them once a week.

Its not a bad place to share music. There are a lot of
interesting artists on there, its very possible to find
something really good. The layout is up to you. So what if
the majority is shite, that doesn't mean that there isn't a
minority that you would enjoy.

I don't actively seek out music on there, but I have, some
how, by osmosis, or people linking, or recommendations,
heard some brilliant music and mixes. So, I don't know, it's
no more "evil" than the Internet in general, it's an easy
way to make a homepage, have your music and you can get
involved as much or as little in the networking side of it
as you want.

the page is managed by an employee of their major. i guess
most artists from indie labels manage their page themselves.
myspace is fun but it's shit.

You have to have faith, if I told you it was JC, what
would be the point of struggling to believe in something
that, odds on, didn't happen?

I messaged this one girl and said I was so lonely I was

private.

ohdammit, i responded to the wrong myspace thread.
ok, here it is again
well ive been on myspace - i've been asked to play 2 gigs
(one has already happened, the other will happen end of
january) and hopefully will get toplay a3rd (was chatting
about the possibility of). no idea if the donate button on
my page hs gotten me donations, no clue at all. itsbeen
weird, but also decent. theres some really creative people
on myspace, like thomas jerome newton for instance, whose
timelapse stuff simply owns. and so on.
i get comments on my tracks, which is always decent.
sometimes people mail me and ask if they can buy my records
directly from me. sometimes people mail me asking if i'm a
fan, or if i'm really me, which is always nice.
. i'm gonna stick by it, and keep announcing gigs etc via
it and stuff. its decent.

the obligatory
myspace url

I agree. It's definitely got me more listeners for my
station; it's even got me mixes from artists I would
otherwise find hard to contact.
The string self promotion aspect of MySpace is why it's so
success IMO.

i actually REALLY like myspace.

but i never joined up with the intention of using to expand
musical horizons, i just joined up for mates and networking
and stuff.....

i was hesitant coz i didn't want my page to say "kris has 0
friends" but thankfully a mate added me before i even
created my profile.

and the layout of the site is easy once you get used to it.
and most importantly (this is a good and a bad thing) - ITS
ADDICTIVE!! PROBABLY THE MOST ADDICTIVE SITE ON THE
INTERNET!

and yes, its even more addictive than xltronic (trust me, it
is.)

music-wise it is ok. you won't really discover anything too
exciting though.

but if you're joining for the networking idea i'll add ya!!
sign up for fuck's sake!!

:P
