thank fuck something decent came out of the iraq war. the
kurds have their own autonomous government and seem to be
doing ok, i.e. not having hundreds of people blown up every
day. good for them.

good for the kurds, and despite the time of nation states
being a nostalgic flight of fancy for the most of us, I
wouldn't just yet deny them a state panning parts of turkey,
syria and iraq. That, though, is not going to happen,
because governments don't like regional authorities. Iraq is
an exception, because ALL the authority in that country is
regional, privatized or imported.
