Oink is a strictly-run music torrent site. It has an
excellent array of music all ripped to high quality, as well
as music videos and music software.

It is notorious for being hard to maintain a good ratio,
although anyone who says they are struggling to maintain a
good ratio will immediately be rebuffed by someone else
telling them that they have had a good ratio from Day
Zero and it's not hard, all you have to do is seed a torrent
for ten years and presto! you'll get that one-to-one ratio.

i have a shit ratio as i don't know how to share
stuff..anyway, im going to download a few things so i can at
least share those. though i doubt anyone will want that..i
should share britney spears and robbie williams to improve
it.

why is it better than soulseek?

it isn't.

yup. i would much rather have a real hard album copy with
all the pretty artwork than just download it.
if i download an album (pirate or legit) i usually buy a
proper copy later on.

it is.. there's far more music on there than on soulseek..

oh, well, i suppose if you don't know how to share a torrent
(???) then you might be having trouble with the search
feature.

word on that

but sometimes there are records that are impossible to
find...

could someone please look for Pharoahe Monch -
Infernal Affairs over there?

Tolstoyed once said he doesn't like too much technology in
general, I guess he's to lazy to understand how to share a
torrent and stuff like that, I think he prefers to keep his
slsk opened ALWAYS. See, he doesn't even followup anwers
because he thinks it takes too much effort lol

Oink is more convenient than SLSK, but SLSK has a far better
selection of truly esoteric stuff.

I got banned from Oink a while back yet again, but there's
nothing there I can't find on SLSK or torrentz or emule or
whatever. But oink is so fast that I'll want to sneak back
on there eventually...

They did away with full discographies which makes it far
less appealing.

Well, on SLSK people have an annoying habit of going offline
whilst you're trying to get something from them. Also, quite
often the download speed can be lame and you are queued
anyway.

None of that with Oink, plus it has quality control.

oh, wait

I keep mixing up that asian film and this album

one is called internal affairs the other is called infernal
affairs

but it should be the normal one.. no need to waste an invite
on me; I'll never get around to sharing anything, I'd just
appreciate it if I could somehow get my hands on that
album...

but it won't affect you negatively if I don't share

"Oink is more convenient than SLSK, but SLSK has a far

this sums it up nicely. i can only find like 5% of music im
interested in on oink. while i almost always find stuff im
interested in through slsk.

I searched for it there before but I never found it

maybe it's spread since then.. I haven't got slsk installed
right now, though and this was much more convenient, as they
even have a losless version.. I'd really prefer buying the
album, but it isn't available.

Yes, it will affect him if you don't share. If you get
banned because of your poor ratio, he will be banned for
inviting you in the first place.

i usually go 1.0001 for a while then pig out on files and
drop to 0.99644 or something

then upload some big fat flacs to save my skin for a few
days

repeat ad infinitum

If it has the musicisises of my two favorite artists, bett
middler and bit meddler, then I'm all over it like
tablecloth. I bet aliens do something like farting,
though it isn't farting but is still equally funny in an
alien sort of way.

Yes, that would be fine; you might find yourself seeding
that one thing for the next 17 years to get your 1.0 ratio.

forced ratio is crap. it fucks up the system because too
many people seed, and no one can maintain a good ratio
because of this.
