ok, i said i'd try and get my hardware demos online and
i've uploaded them to my zebox page. there's 5 in total,
only one is finished as of yet.

i've again been concentrating on melodic content.

please give me constructive criticism!

thanks for listening

I like the 'old' sound of the beats, but ulimately it sounds
like rephlex stuff from 5 years ago. its not bad though

weird, the only rephlex releases i have so far are:

The Braindance Coincidence
Chosen Lords

so i'll take that as a compliment :)

thanks

I was eager to slag these, dog_belch style, but I have to
admit that these are actually good, even with the loudest
background noise I have ever heard. the untitleds 2-4 are
great and honest pieces of knobfiddling and gear fetishism
in practice.

A+

They're all decent. They sound retro and minimal but I like
that aesthetic. Untitled demo 3 is my fav of the bunch.

I liked demos 1 & 4, especially the highhat line in 1 and
the bass in 4. 4 is nice when the kickdrum comes in too.

You really need to get a mixer though mate, the hiss makes
that old techno track "storm" sound clean ;-)

Whoa, love it! Thanks!
Only other thing you could do is boost the bass EQ on all of
them.

Very nice and catchy tunes man! I like the structure off all
the tunes. The first 2 minutes of Untitled demo 2 has a nice
SAW touch to it. All the tunes were ace except Untitled demo
3 imo.

I wasn't able to get around the background noise which was
quite annoying tbh, I think you lay it on too thick. Also
boost the bass EQ like futureimage said. I guess you did it
all on purpose to gain a nostalgic touch to it?

Nevertheless some enjoyable and well structured tracks. :)

yeah, with my situation i can only really go minimal...but
i'm liking the sound, so i think i'll run with it for a
while!
the nord is only 4 part multi-timbral, and i don't have a
multitrack recorder :(

i would EQ it if i had a desk, or an external EQ!

thanks for the tip though :)

yeah, most of them are unfinished and need expanding, but i
thought i'd post them just to prove that i'm not just
hoarding this gear, i am actually using it!

the background noise though wasn't intentional - my method
of recording is cassette tape. and the way i'm getting the
signal into the cassette tape recorder is by using splitter
cables as an ad-hoc mixer. as you can guess, that will not
be conducive to a noise-free environment. but at the moment
i have no money to buy a mixer, or a decent recording
device!

trust me, as soon as i can though i'll be getting some
decent stuff to record with

thanks for listening mate :D SAW like?? huge compliment
thanks!!! :D

all pretty decent, lots of noise though, what mixer are you
using & how are you recording them down?

oh hey, i listened a couple weeks ago and quite liked it but
got distracted and never commented.

i think i liked untitled 3 the best, the short one.

im just so jealous of all your hardware, i wish i could get
out of this software rut.

thanks man, muchly appreciated :)

i must say - i don't really miss software based stuff that
much...i really do prefer working with tactile stuff (and
MIDI controllers are crap)

I'm not too fond of all of them, but untitled 1 and 2 are
quite ok.

The question would have to be..if people didn't know it was
all made on original hardware would they give a fuck? The
answer would have to be yes. They are all fun and rather
enjoyable. Nice work.
