I stand by what I said about Eple=Plaid

here's a few reasons why

1.the tempo
2.the breakbeat
3.the sounds used for the melody line
4.the key
5.the structure

the only thing that spoils the comparison is the trancey
breakdown which of course Plaid have never really dealt
with.

If anyone else wants me to die because I happen to have
acute observation skills please at least try and disprove my
argument first, cheers :)

I agree 100% with soundguy...Eple is VERY Plaid
sounding...but it played regularly on MTV so you clowns will
never allow it to be associated with Plaid.

One of the major pitfalls of this message board is that a
lot of people don't seem to appreciate music for the fact it
is music, instead you seem to like the music because of it's
exclusivity.

only one track on that album that's "ok"... but i kind of
regret buying it... i baught it 'cause i wanted a new album
and had nothing else to buy at the time... But Royksopp
aren't really good with my tastes...
You get quickly bored... 1 track ok... the other ones are
pretty lame

Couldn't agree with you more. Get off your damn high horses
people. Music is Music, who gives a feck who made it or how
popular it is. IF it's GOOD, it's GOOD. Too many people
listen to different stuff on this board because it makes
them "different." To hell with that.

I never said anything about it's popularity.

I just think it sounds awful.

Wasn't directing that statement to just you, it's the
general vibe I get from a lot of board members.

i agree with both yourself and ecnadniarb.
music is not a status badge.
i've said it before and i'll say it again, there's too much
inverse music snobbery around - and surprising amount of it
here on xlt.

and, yeah, i can see the connections between eple & some of
plaid's more sample-based tracks.but not the album as a
whole.

haven't listened to royksopp for quite a while actually.
have to dig it out sometime; it's very much a summer
evening's album in my mind.

offline Strange Times from Now On on 2004-06-16 08:56 [#01242782]

the best summer evening album is 'Forever Changes', without
a doubt.

btw, the best summer evening song must be "stream one" by
bitstream...IT IS FANTASTIC!!

^^^^^

Me and my GF used to chill to the last two "Sigor Ros"
albums Summer just gone, you may need to arrange your
playlist a little to get the best out of them but they work
a treat.

*copy/pastes Fladoloby into list of artists to check out*

sometimes musical snobs get it right, sometimes they have
their heads placed firmly up their arses, I'll give this guy
the benefit of the doubt though, one of the reasons I
registered here was to discover new stuff to listen to.

it better be good mate.
