It's been a while since I worked with these two tracks, and
I think they're complete as they are, so what's your opinion
on them?

They're called Amb1 and Amb2.

Keep in mind they're ambient, no drum n' bass or the like.

Enjoy

Amb1, Amb2

(and as per usual, headphones are requested, and close your
eyes, and relax)

well,

i do like track with individual stamp on them, if you know
what i mean. stamps which are not only intended, but as
well, somehow placed in the works so that you can reckognize
the overall structure from the first seconds.
it reminded me a bit of hafler trio, now i dunno if thats a
good thing to say.

firstly, you should allways opt for making your sounds
beeing "yours", in which case comparison doesnt reflect
actual fact that you've made the track to sound like
something else. which im not saying you did now, following
me ?

secondly, comparison might give you a glimpse into overall
idea of what you're doing in general, and by this, you might
have a greater control on the overall scope of works and way
they're going into.

im unsure which one of above you did out there, besides the
fact that i wouldnt call the first track "relaxing", and
even if i would close my eyes, i would gladly open them
again, scared, for lack of a better word.

anyway, i think that saying "liked" is not sufficient in
here, i might say i enjoyed the first track. i wont say
anything about the workbench of yours, or technical issues,
as i understand that at the moment when youre deciding to
show your work you assume that its finished and thats the
way you want to hear it and be heard, so, i might just say
again that i enjoyed it.

good atmosphere, theres something to it, i see it as a part
of a bigger work, a complete suite gathered from tiny
pieces, not exactly fitting to eachother, just to give them
an odd feeling of beeing, kind of wrong and sufficiently
good at the same time. interesting, in other words.

6/10 if it's standalone,
maybe more if you decide to follow ?

Oh, thanks, K300i.

Ah, well, perhaps "relaxing" might be the wrong word.

Well, yes, perhaps I should make it a suite. That'd be
interesting and a challenge.

However if you think that there's something I should add, or
subtract, do please tell me. It could be interesting to see
what would "happen" to the track if I would change it.

if i would tell what what "i" would do to it, or altered it
in my own way, it wouldnt be only yours anway.
maybe its a strange thing to say, but its your work, and the
last thing i would like to do would be to destroy this
feeling of independency by adding an element of "me" to it,
no matter how the work is done, and if its likeable or not.
a fair dose of criticism , maybe, bot a big no to altering
someones else works in such a way.

and even if you feel there should be something more to it,
just work on it, but keep it yours. in my understanding, you
can change the track if you want anyway, but its better to
do this of inspiration rather than someones comments.
after all, it came out of you and it means something.

to clarify - when you go to gallery, you dont say to artist
what he should change in his works because you feel such and
such, now do you ? :)

Well, of course not, and I see what you mean,
but this is a music-forum after all.
It might be thought of as asking other artists what their
opinions are on such and such matters, as for instance the
colour-tones (metaphorically) and the like. Usually when I'm
working on a track, I lose distance to it, and when I end
up listening to it a while after, I often recognize those
"tones" that I missed out on before.

I'm not interested in hearing from other people how "good"
it is (this is not supposed to be interpreted as boasting)
but rather their view of it, if they concieve of anything
while listening to it.

Apart from this forum, there's no-one, but my self, who has
"interest" in my tracks. Rather it is a hobby that is often
more fun with other people who happen to share the same
interest - electronic music.

Elaboration in progress, that's how I think of it.
And you know, even an artist has to put his work in the
gallery, to afford to pay the rent, and the similar.
This forum might perhaps be recognized as "my" gallery. ;)
Though, it doesn't pay the rent.

Have a glass with the painter, the wine is on the house! :)

(I hope I didn't sound to fuzzy now)

Simply put - what good is it to "write a book" if no-one is
entitled to read it, nor have an opinion of it?

yes but still i keep it at "read it and say if you liked it"
instead of "read it and alter it". makes difference, but
surely, if you feel like a bit od advice on your works, its
up to you anyway.

its a personal preference after all.

My guess is, we're thinking the same thing here.
I'm not meaning "to alter" per se, but rather simply that
if
anyone, for instance, didn't like it, because of such and
such, he or she wouldn't have to keep quiet about it (let's
say the beat lacks punch).

Anyway, your comments are appreciated, K300i, thanks.

tomorrow is in 15 minutes, and I guess I can cheat just a
little bit

amb1 is awesome, but it should be longer and it should have
areas with less sound and more steady rhythmic patterns.
When I read ambient, I was thinking it'd be like flowing
melodies and birds.

amb2 is too much a "more of the same" thing. Why not just
extend amb1 with amb2 after a different part?
