They really work!!!

I tried a set today. You know the ones that block out
unwanted noise. I did the first test in a perfectly quiet
room...I pressed play on the VSnores CD and I got perfect
silence! I have ordered three pairs.

Oh man, I have this pair of headphones I bought for 29.99
about 7 years ago... the black stuff on the... 'muffs'... is
peeling off and I want some new ones. They play music
PERFECT. And the ultimate music test is crunch's 'toe tac
tic' track. For some reason that track in particular has
very subtle parts that make the track sound absolutely
wicked on those headphones and only about half as
interesting on just about every other pair I've tried. I
just bought some for like 40$ that had the best reviews on
epinions and they suck compared to those 7 year old ones
when playing toe tac tic. They flatten out all the detail,
like they don't even bother playing the 10-5% layer of the
most quiet sounds or something.

Yes, I was pissed off.

Actually I tried some bose ones and I thought they were shit
so I'm not really buying any. I just ramp the volume up on
normal ones until I can't hear any background stuff. I've
always done it so now my ears automatically cancel about 50%
of sound anyway.

i like my sennheiser PX200
they also have some sort of noise blocker and fit nice on
your ears so its very quite though they dont wrap around
your whole ear, they are pretty normal looking ones

80€ - 2 years warranty

this summer when we were working on the roof of our cabin,
we had these weird headphone like things that were, like,
you could hear everything people said and stuff, but if
there was some loud noise, you couldn't hear it at all.. I
think there was some sort of compressor or something on
them. You could listen to radio or whatever while working
and the radio signal would remain steady, you could hear
people talking to you and you didn't get any loud noises.

When I was 15 I made some noise cancelling headphones for
mowing the lawn.

Gun mufflers with headphone speakers put in. They cost me
$30 (though they looked dorky).
