these songs sound like ones that would go well on some NES

Well it seems good in that it seems purposely annoying. The
goal here seems to be an expression of complete rejection of
music by purposely creating crap. Some instruments were used
kinda nicely, like u know what you're doing, and it sounds
like... an actual song and stuff.

mostly impulse tracker
and some Cool Edit

i;ve tried programs like fruity loops and reason and
orionpro

i guess they;re all cool but for the shit i like to do it
takes too much plotting
maybe me haven;t played with 'em enuff
but when i;m trackin i can see everything thatz going on in
all channels with note names and everything
i can;t stand that pic o' a keyboard on the left, doesn;t
even resemble a proper staff
