cheap chinese?

do you prefer cheap chinese to fancy chinese?

when I lived in manhattan there was a nice sichuan place I
frequented, but I heard it sucks now. Here in pittsburgh my
favorite chinese places are all extremely cheap. The once
that try to be nice have much worse food. this is in
contrast with other foods, where the cheapest usually makes
me pretty unhappy.

Maybe it's all about striking gold by finding some random
immigrant family who set up shop and are culinary geniuses.

*typed with one hand, the other holding chopsticks*

cheap japanese usually sucks, cheap thai usually sucks..

I slaughter anyone who attempts to discuss "cheap chinese
girls". You can think of me as "stalin".

I have never had 'fancy chinese' and i guess i don't have a
refined taste for it because i will eat, as the sign reads
"CHINA MENU BUFFET" for $7.50, no prob. Actually I only
went there two or three times during the summer. It was air
conditioned and had tinted windows, set back from the street
by about 30 feet. At the tables by the windows you could
hear a low frequency sound from the ventilation, or more
feel the pressure since it was under audible frequency.

Oh I forgot to mention it was very soundproofed, you could
not hear traffic outside at all.

I'm scared of buffets, usually.

my current favorite restaurant is taiwanese, and my meals
average $17 there.

another classification of restaurants that's usual a good
indicator for me is whether the manager/owner is an active
chef. There are two somewhat pricey places near me with
good food "presentation" (which makes me hate life..
seriously spend your time improving the taste) and poor
taste. They are quite popular.. some tool owns both and
only cares about hiring pretty waitresses, having expensive
lighting, trendy music, and leaving cents off of prices in
the menu.

i fucking hate people.

will you marry me? I own two thousand acres of land, half of
which are for my oil fields, and the other half to oil my
penis.

I'm going to spend the rest of my life designing the
ultimate computer chip that will be infinitely replicated
and used in every gizmo imaginal before that dormant
'appetite for human flesh' virus I secretly programmed into
it springs into life in all of them.

i prefer to have a decent (~£25) chinese every few months
than a shite takeaway for less than a fiver every few days.

I prefer Thai to chinese. As Ezkerraldean says, I prefer a
good sit down meal every now and then to a greasy takeaway
every week. That said, there are some good cheap chinese
restaurants near me.

9 out of ten take away is bad. Ive had one really good one.
Its in the Italian district in Boston. Ironic. I remember
they give a bread roll with your meal. Expensive Chinese is
usually pretty good.

What I prefer now is Thai food. Its like Chinese but
cleaner, cooler, and a wider array of flavors. Cashew
chicken is basically a better version of General Tso's
chicken. Did I mention cleaner?

I struck luck in the immigrant/culinary genius department.
There is a chinese just up the road from me that is superb.
tastes like real chinese food as opposed to the crap you get
90% of the time. Thai food is nice, I prefer chinese but I
hear thai is cleaner.

That's my feeling, Thai is like an RDJ remix of Chinese
food. Thai Curries in particular PWN! chinese ones, by and
large.

thai food has a very fresh/inventive use of spices, agreed.
HOWEVER I recommend sichuan cuisine, my favorite chinese
food. When I get expensive chinese, it's always sichuan.

BY THE WAY, no one read anything I said again.

my POINT was: in my experience, wherever I've lived, there
existed a cheap chinese place which EXCELLED the quality of
expensive chinese places within the say area under
consideration.

going to get me some cheap, DELICIOUS, chinese food.

I'll admit I haven't sampled many places, and in nyc (do you
still live there?) my favorite was "grand sichuan", which
had a few locations (I only tried the hell's kitchen one).
this example DEFEATS my argument. in pittsburgh though, it
seems to be the case.

I've heard the place isn't as good any more. have you been
there?

I am not suCh a big fan of Chinese or Thai, though they have
one or two dishes that I love.

Indian is pretty muCh all the Asian food I eat, but I eat a
LOT of Indian food.

(My Chinese teaCher Claims that you Cannot get any deCent
Chinese food outside of New York, and that the Cheap stuff
is all Crap)

I haven't been there sneak. There is such a shortage of
decent Indian food in the usa. I wish people would demand it
more. Nothing like good spicy curry.
