What are your favourite free plugins out there on the
internet? I really need a few new ones, preferably some nice
delays and maybe some ring modulation.

Your help will be muchly appreciated :)

E-phonic

The audio destruction unit is brilliant. I use it a lot. You
can either completely destroy something to pieces, or just
put a subtle little distortion on a synth or a kick drum to
warm it up. Extremely nice. They also have some delays you
can check out. I usually just use mda delay.

Other than that, Crystal is good. You need it, if you don't
have it. I found it a little confusing at first, but youll
get used to it with some patience.

Crystal

That was supposed to be in the "post something relevant....

As far as a sampler goes, highlife is nice, and its now
free. Some good sample editing options (unfortunately they
are destructive, but they still sound good - very similar to
hardware sampling).

Highlife

If you want to search through a massive list, KVR is probly
the most comprehensive available, and you can search by
developer, what it does, whether or not its free (and even
if its made in synthedit).

Link takes you to a search of their database

Nowadays, its almost asinine to expect to pay for vst
plugins. You can build an entire professional digital studio
for free provided you are clever and selective, without even
having to stoop to warez.

And I would suggest checking out this demo. I promised
myself I wouldn't be too talkative about this, but its
already out in force in most of the messageboards.

synthmaker

It allows you to patch together modules a la reaktor, and
then render them into vst plugins. Not a new idea entirely,
except this has an extremely flexible engine, that allows
you to do real coding (only if you feel like it). Its
flexible in that, aparently, the language it uses is very
common to some of the more common languages used in dsp
(don't ask me what they are, I am not that much of a geek).
You can pretty much just copy and paste code that you find
on the internet, and alter it as you see fit.

Its not free, but its comparitively cheap. I have played
with it, and the interface is extremely fun to work with,
making it easy to create a unique GUI for your plugins that
doesn't look like ass.

Synthedit > SynthMaker IMO.

Synthmaker is intuitive. Synthedit is nonsence. Plus you can
use your own code in synthmaker.

I'm glad to see this thread is turning into an little
goldmine.

This dude creates synths in synthedit, and some of them are
actually very good. Check it out!!!

Mik of Denmark GTG

You should really give this a chance

This is a big list, and a lot of it is crap ofcourse, but it
might be worth checking out. Se if anything sounds
interesting.

Check

no, I can't actually.. I don't use very many plugins.. I use
simple distortion, filters or reverb from time to time, but
nothing fancy, so I haven't installed any of these.. but
they're recommended by people who make good musics, so they
must be of some use at least.

The only thing I can tell you is that some of them seem to
be osx only and others are pc only or something...

I'll copy the text that went with it, but I don't know if I
skipped some or something.. it should correspond to
the links

Tweakbench I use Peach and Toad way too much. Awesome
plugs.
digitalfishphones Blockfish, aka one sexy compressor boy
howdy, and more phats.
NorthPole This is a rez filter I use in almost all of my
tracks. Can't do without it.
FreeAlpha Class synth. It has a modulation matrix, we all
know that anything with the word 'matrix' in it's
feature-list rocks.
KVR Database Tons and tons and tons of plugins.
MDA This guy has some groovy plugs. I use his vocoder the
most.
Oli Larkin Some nice stuff.

Here's some links to PC-only plugs I love (no
Mac-shit...sorry about that):

PD 303 Vintage casio synth meets TB 303
Triangle & Triangle II monophonic synths
DMOBag The DirectX 9 effects. Download the whole sourcebag
and throw everything but the reverbs.

The Land of Cockaigne stuff. The links on their page are
broken so here's the real ones...

Little Duck filterbank
Satyr VA[4 note polyphony version] - [8 note polyphony
version]
Quantum 64 digital arcade synth
Oberon Poly-4 VA
Panzertank PM4phase modulation synth
Phibes electric organ
Morpeus [with samples] - [without samples] FM sampler

basic64 is inspired by the 8 bit sounds of the
classic Commodore 64.

It's not a straight emulation, but is based around the SID
chip with some extras for that 8-bit retro game sound, lofi
gritty noises or just plain oddness.
