would you pay for remixes?

if the original track was for free?

I was thinking about this whole Monolake thing... if he
released all the original tracks for free and then did
remixes and posted them for people to pay for.... would that
work?

Cuase if he did something like that maybe that would make
the best of a bad situation for him... no? yes?

I would pay for someone famous to remix my rubbish so I
could, in turn, be famous.

but you know how that works - everybody remembers the famous
person, possibly the name of the remix oh and what was the
original track called..? who cares, it was shit. who was it
by, again..?

There are exceptions to that rule. Exceptions I can't think
of off the top of my head, but exceptions I intend to
follow.

That's one. The Todd Terry remix of Everything but the
Girl's "Missing" is another.

Arthur Baker? That record was terrible. I remember my
friend's girlfriend coming back with it, all excited as
she'd heard it on the advert, and then, after that first 10
seconds of ravey davey stuff it shifts down several gears
into cod, lumpen goth dirge.. she wasn't happy.

qrter: You know who Everything and the Girl are, the couple,
the woman with a face like a slapped arse and the bloke...
with a face like a slapped arse.

no i was thinking that since monolake is so pissed that the
tracks from the new album are out there.. instead of being
mad about it, turn it into an opportunity to remix them and
then exclusively sell the remixes or something.

even if he does/doesn't get Todd Terry to remix it,... the
publicity from it would go a long way in helping him with
his cause. I can see it now.....

I don't think anyone's all that fucking bothered, to be
honest.
