I am looking for places to visit in Scandinavia.

I am planning on going to Reykjavik Iceland for the Blue
Lagoon.

Jukkasjarvi Sweden for the Icehotel and Absolut Icebar.
I hear Stockholm is a great city as well but don't know much
about it.

just looking for tips so I can do some research before I
plan a holiday.

You should visit khazakstan on your way to russia and ask
them about the borat movie.

Thats the advice from someone who doesn't remotely live near
any of those countries.

figured Borat would be dropped into this.

And Khazakstan wouldnt be good because Dickhead cheney went
over there a few months back and criticized their govt on
K's policies w/ Russia over oil distribution. he attacked
other political areas as well but it is clear his motive.

for Russia I was thinking more of just Moscow. if I do go to
Russia that is.

If the Blue Lagoon is your only reason for going to Iceland
I wouldn't really bother... The summer is the best time to
visit. I wouldn't recommend visiting Iceland in the
wintertime, really.

For breathtaking vistas I recommend Lofoten in the
north and / or Geirangerfjord in the southwest.
Bergen is a beautiful city on the west coast, so is
Ã…lesund, but I don't know if there's much to do there

I would advice you not to go to Russia.

That country is corrupted beyound your imagination.

Iceland is expensive. VERY expensive. But a unique and
beautiful nature experience.

Blue lagoon wont be my only reason for going to Iceland, I
just havent started looking shit up yet:)

I will fly there but put the ticket money on credit card so
that I can pay it off later and have more moolah to spend on
the trip.

I'm big on food really(but slim as can be) so I will be
looking up a lot of resturaunts as well.

Russia is a dream but may not be in my pocketbook at the
moment :)

Surreal enviroment: yeah that is one of my big interests
with Iceland.

Thank you all for your help.

I think Norway is a bit more expensive than Iceland, but
just a little bit. It's definetly expensive as hell here.

But yes, the nature is is pretty surreal for someone who
hasn't been here, i reckon. The nature is full of contrasts,
glaciers just beside volcaninc activity and such things.
Moss-grown lava all over the place in between other
surroundings. And, ok, the Blue Lagoon isn't that bad :).
Sometimes it just feels like it's been exaggerated how great
the place is but it's still a nice place.

Norway is also extremely beautiful. Nice recommendations
above from Sclah. My parents went to Norway 2 years ago and
weren't disappointed. I saw some great pictures from
Lofoten. I would like to go there one day. The icelandic
fjords are nice, but nothing compared to the Norwegian ones.

If you smoke, make sure to bring a carton of cigarettes from
your home country or the airport duty free store :p

Well yeah, if you wan't to smoke and/or drink in
scandinavia, Denmark is the place to be.

But if you're into experiences in nature, Sweden and Norway
are far more interesting in those countries.

It depends. Try to describe what you wan't to see in the
countries.

What kind of travelling experience are you looking for?

The cheapest way to travel in Norway is propably by bus.
Nor-Way Bus Express run routes throghout the country. There are
also local bus companies everywhere.

Lavprisekspressen (the low price express (haha)) is the
cheapest way to travel between Oslo, Bergen, Kristiansand,
Trondheim and Copenhagen. They don't have any english
version of their site, though, so you'll propably need some
assistance ordering.
