to all musicians here, computerized or not; what have been your best and worst gigs? Any laptop crashes or strings breaking during a song? Any displays of mad adoration in the form of copious amounts of dancing and love letters from the audience?

best gig - Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I think it was at the "Firehorse" or something like that. This was with my old band Tiki Obmar. It was a tiny ass bar and we had to set up on the floor. We didn't have a PA and relied solely on our amps. I'm not going to go into details of the gig but it was absolutely rocking, even though my laptop crashed during one of the songs. The bar was packed and people were going totally ape shit. There are some old posts about that gig over on the planet-mu message board, "love letters" from those in the audience if you'd like to call them that. As an aside, I enjoy most of the gigs I play.
worst gig - I think I'm not alone in saying that all musicians suffer through a variety of terrible gigs. I've definitely made an ass of my self several times on stage because I tried something new that I hadn't exactly gotten down yet, like singing. more shitty gigs to come probably

Best Gig - Probably either Death in Vegas or Prodigy.
Worst Gig - Any one of a number of shit indie bands I've seen at festivals.

Yeah, you're right. The terrible ones tend to occur when you get a bit too ambitious or attempt something you've not worked at much (although I'm sure there are lucky exceptions to this...)

I djed at a rave in the woods, I played rave tunes and classic jungle with smooth transitions, instead of psytrance and breaks which are easy to mix anyway, it went down well and I felt happy, and old skool ravers shook my hand

don't remember my best sets, but i had plenty of bad ones.
i don't know why but nearly every time i check my live set (ableton) at home verything works fine and after i install myself at the gig something is always wrong.
once i had to reinstall 6 times (!!) my audio interface because it didn't want to fire up, but at home everything worked fine in the exactly same configuration!
at another gig ablteon screwed completely up and all my samples where launched with a delay of one whole beat - sounded actually quite interesting but not how i wanted it to sound...
at another gig some stupid mo-fo technician plugged in an additional monitor-speaker unplugging my laptop. i didn't realise that it was working on battery before i saw that "windows is shutting down" screen. you cannot even imagine how the crowed flipped out after that windows-xp-shutdown-jingle fired up through the speakers.
at another gig i accidently stepped on the audio cable from my laptop breaking it's plug. i tried to put it back together as fast as i could what ended in sounding like microstoria/pan sonic...
i could go on for hours.

okay okay i admit that i hopped nobody would get the point and ask for it so that i woulndn't have to explain it.
so - i still don't know why ( i was on ableton 4 back then) when i fired up a sampel that was longer than 8 measures (16, 32 so almost all melodies, pads and so on) he cutted out the first 4 beats, and punched in the music after it.
i know it sounds wierd but i dunno how to explain it and i cannot really repeat that bug.
