my version wont let me see the control palette? any ideas?
ive tried doing quite a bit of stuff like ctrl 6, but no
options i see anywhere to bring it up.

that just gives me the swatches floating window. i mean the
big menu bar thats supposed beneath the normal window bar.

Sorry, for some reason I read "control" as "colour".

I guess you mean the tool pallette? window/tools

If not, then just go through the window menu until you find
the one you want. To revert everything back to default, go
to window/workspace/default
