Have any of you been in bands where you spent say, a year working with another person or persons, only to realise they had no respect for your opinions and/or were just damaging your creative output? It's weirdly liberating when you finally just walk away, but it's a bit odd, too. |

i have never been, nor will i ever be in a band. if somebody would damage my creative output i would most likely totally flip out like a ninja and chop some heads off. so anyway, what are you really trying to ask/say here? |

yeah, i have. bands are difficult to pull off, but they're great when they come together. i was in this band, Nature Shirt, and we had this guy in the band who wouldn't listen at all to what we were doing and just blare out. I have a band right now called I think the other guys are easy to get along with, which is something that is hard to find. Most musicians are egomaniacs who are more worried about furthering themselves and pushing their music on everyone than about making music itself. Being in a band without friction means setting aside your own principles and compromising with others, combining your techniques into a whole that is much greater than its individual pieces. Essentially, you have to make sacrifices - opening your mind meaning closing off your criticisms. |
