Just landed this baby home and it hit the record player
immediately. It's good so far (on side b), more back to the
old roots, at least if you compare it to the tipping point.
I was kind of expecting them to go down some time now, and
with the tipping point and this being so close together in
time, I was expecting something half-assed.. however, that
could also be the reason why I'm liking it thus far; I had
no high hopes, but as far as I'm concerned, this proves that
the roots won't ever die and that I'll be at their
retirement home concert!

here are some samples for you bitches!

excellent record... i can't seem to get enough of it in one
spin, i'm playing it on repeat. it's my first Roots' album
so far so i can't compare it to the others yet, but i'm
tempted to check out more.

here is a pretty cool video medley of three tracks
from the album.

I've had it for a few weeks and love it. It's straight
hip-hop taking it back to the illadelph era. The Roots hold
a special place in rap that no-one can touch. They truly
take hiphop further than any other group.

you should get the rest of them! Illadelph halflife is
classic! Things fall apart is a great listen, do you want
more and phrenology are awesome listens and you can
get the girls to shake their booties to it, but for the most
shaking action, you need the tipping point. All are
recommended!

great link, thanks!

I'm listening to it again right now! After that I'll keep on
going through the roots' history backwards before I go out
for some good jazz later tonight!

no, because it was tagged hip-hop, and I'm very, very
"careful" with hip-hop. It's a good way to start, I hope.

There's lots of brilliant and awesome hip hop out and about!
You need to dig up The Roots using some Common
sense, maybe with a little help from A Tribe Called
Quest
and Pharoahe Monch, but don't forget to add
some of that Blackalicious sexy shit from Talib
Kweli
.

way) like that? maybe my favourite album this year so far.

It's not my favourite exactly, no, but even as their worst,
it's very good, and I still spin it quite often... they're
some skilled motherfuckers, they are!
