Painting

I haven't painted in a while. But now that it is this time
of year, I can go out on drives in the country and get
inspired (and listen to the songs of Aphex that are tied to
my emotions this time of year).

Farm

I decided to try painting in watercolor again. It's been
about 2 years since I've touched the stuff.

See, I wish I could use color like that. I always limit
myself to like...crulean blue, indian red, yellow ochre, and
van dyke brown. And that's it.

Watercolour's very difficult to work with, you've done a
great job. You're a very talented young lad.

I may be able to scan it full size. That was just set up on
the counter and photo'd.

I'm grateful. I don't think I've got a comment so nice from
you before.

Yeah, there is a lot of mess involved from the water. It's
not very forgiving like acrylic is.

i hve like 40+ colors, my problem is that i do lots of
"exploring" withe colors and do necesarrily paint an image,
like your barn

the one thats almost completely white, i was going for a
bedroom setting, but gave up, maybe ill grab it again
sometime

Yeah. I also can't set something down and stop and come back
to it. Like this one I just posted, I literally made within
the last half hour. No joke.

I think it would be great on a big canvas, like something 5
feet x 5 feet.

yeah it would, i do a lot of smaller sizes, 18"x12"
i grabbed a larger, $20.00 canvas, and just ruined it :(

so once i get an idea down that i actually want, ill try it
on a larger piece

we wanted to get a 5'x5' and have our dog Lily walk on it
w/painted feet :)

You can take that $20.00 get some gesso and re-prime it,
right?

I remember on a cartoon I used to watch one of the pets on
the show got into paint and walked on a canvas by accident.
and it sold for a lot. I think it was Spike on Rugrats.

word!

me and a mate have been doing stuff with watercolours now,
and it's the cheapest sort.. so fragile that just touching
it leaves fingerprints on the painting and gets paint on
your fingers.

I think they guy Tycho (or his art provider) uses
watercolors. I love some of the stuff he's got. It's real
saturated colors that just bloom on the paper.

Yeah, it's expensive. I got my tubes (they're real tiny
ones, I think mabye 2 inches long, 1/2 inch wide) for around
7 dollars a tube. But it's worth it because then I can make
something like this and sel it to buy more supplies.

The most I've sold one for was $300.00 Not so bad. I was
proud.

haha, we bought these huge bottles with coloured liquid in
them.. 1 litre, maybe

75 kroner each (11$)

we bought red, green, blue, black and white, and are mixing
all other colours...

I mean, if you could take some of your home made colors and
somehow post them so I can see. I love looking at color
schemes. It's one of my all time favorite things.

ehm.. we don't store the colours, we just mix them when we
need them.. on the painting. in effect, if you want to see
our palette, you need to see the paintings.

I'll post pics when I get them down here

In the meantime, I have some older paintings posted in a
thread somewhere here, I think... they're a good mix of all
types of paint, though... oil, water, spray, oil (in the
strict sense, ie not oil colour, but.. oil...). I'll see if
I find them.

I'm going to waste all my time this winter up in my room
doing stuff like this. I'm gonna have to get an EBAY account
and sell some to people who don't know any better.

ah, right

I'm getting a new one down here soon, but it's.. well, it's
very minimal with almost nothing but green and a sort of
typical web-designy flowery pattern at the bottom...
