I received it yesterday and it's yet another typical Proem album.
A very warm sound and very well produced. The live tracks on the 2nd CD are high quality soundboard recordings and are previous unreleased songs. At first listening I do like the 2nd CD even more because it's that typical Proem sound but more danceable.

I feel really bad for Proem.
I saw him live in SF a few days ago and it was a light turnout. And most of the people there were standing around blankly or talking during his awsome set. I was embarassed to be standing in the same crowd.
I read an interview where he said he works all day explaining the difference between microsoft XP and office XP to consumers. It said he barely makes any money off his music.
This just should not be happing to an artist of this calibur. If you haven't heard his 2004 masterpeice "Socially Inept," you really should check it out, because every song is just really top notch.

I just recieved the album in the mail yesterday and I was driving around listening to it tonight... just driving through the hills watching the the fallen oak and maple tree leaves being carried off by the wind, every once in awhile driving past a clearing in the trees where I could see the lights of the city below me... and I was just hit with this deep nostalgia... like deja vu of a childhood memory from a dream. I know part of this undefineable feeling was derived from the natural beauty of where I happen- am lucky enough- to live (near Palo Alto, California), but part of it was definatly the music of Proem as well... whose music always takes me to another place that that I rarley go with other artists.
The album itself is darker and moodier then Socially Inept... it flows together as more of a wave than a series of self contained masterpeices that made up his last album. Anyone sleeping on either You Shall Have Ever Been, or Socially Inept should do themselves a favor and give both a listen.

"You Shall Have Ever Been" is great.... not ground-breaking, but well thought out and put together......... sounds like a combination of older Aphex, Ae and Bola, with the occasional BOC-esque drums. He can really do melody which is a prerequisite for this style of thing.

There are some good moods on this album. Definetly something I'd keep listening to.
But really, i don't think it's a good as album as socially inept.
Place gun to head is one of my favorite big tracks of all time, and no tracks on this really beats it imo.
As a complete package, and production wise it is awesome, but as a detailed listening experience it's not quite there for me.

May 1st N5MD will release another Proem album, I can't wait! You shall have ever been is another great Proem album, and the more you listen to it, the more you get into his sound.
I feel N5MD is more home to Proem, with loads of other similar great artists...!

I'm really looking forward to A Perminent Solution. Will it be a CD release only?
