Intelligent Design Music - The music for the
christian conservative!

instead of a genre name, try, for instance, just naming the
artists you listen to. If they don't know them, they don't
know what you mean when you say "experimental electro"
anyway...

its not like i exclusively say experimental electro, i
usually name the artists. its just when they ask for a genre
name.

if they ask for a genre name just look at them like you were
a black woman and they've said something that offended you.

All that 90s Warp, Skam and Rephlex stuff was cool, because
those fellas were influenced by Techno, Drum n Bass,
Ambient, House, Acid, all good stuff. It's diluted now
because you have kids that are just into IDM and don't look
further afield into things like Grime, Dubstep, RnB, Minimal
Techno or anything else that's evolved outside of the IDM
bubble they live in recently. Plus, anyonestill messing
around with breakbeats is a FOOL.

idm never made it because it was connected directly to a
geek/nerd lifestyle, rock and rap on the other hand, which
is much more rehashed and old as genres, did not because
they are 'cool.'

idm might pick up again when we all go nerdy cause right now
theres very little demand for idmerssssss.

Dance will come back over the next couple of years, so maybe
IDM dewds can try their hands at DM.

Okay some points i would like to make...

IDM and associated subgenres were/are of interest because
they occassionally interrupt, break the flow, subvert the
incessant flow of the four on the floor of any commercial
music, let you dangle in midspace for those briefest
moments, akin to a sudden out of body expereince....

But aside from that..when it comes to writing melodies and
tunes IDM does have some of the most memorable tunes around
in electronic music....

And I wont be that quick to divest Windowlicker from
IDM...the amount of subtle subversion of the booty shaking
form that's gone into it..makes it an IDM masterpiece..

Maybe we should just create a slang terminology for what we
mean to be IDM when we are talking to other people. never
have the same answer.

for the moment I'll call it: Audio Chocolate.

the only thing that makes something "IDM" is if it's
presented as "IDM". its my opinion that music is only what
it is presented as

"hmmm. this is good house."

"no, it's called detroit techno."

"oh, no, wait this is acid, isn't it? i hear a 303"

"oh, wait. no... i heard an amen break. this is jungle."

"no, that synth has been bit-crunched. this, my friends is
glitch."

"oh, wait, did you hear that? a breakbeat. this is
breakcore."
