Squarepusher's Bass Noodling

To be honest, it was nice to see him throw the old thing
back on a few years back for live performances, but now i
just feel like it get's in the way of a good old rave up...
also, the volume of it drowns the background music, which is
always very quiet.

So, does his bass wanking add to his live performances or
not?

the thing is that he doesn't make live versions of this
tracks.
it sounds like he just plays a track and then bass on top
of it.
without removing the bassline in the original track. so that
means you have two bass melodies over each other...which
more or less drows everything else out.

All i know is
- Liquid rooms 97 mp3, HND era = live bass = brilliant
- go plastic tour = no live bass = a bit un-live, just
dsp tweaking but brilliant anyway if you listen to all the
live shows and see the differences
- ultravisitor live noodling "fillers" = grown on me 100
fold
- roppongi/hms live has him ramp ,up the live bass with
amazing renditions of chin hippy, journey to redham,
dimotane co as well as newer stuff
- new album seems like it'll be more of the same which is
the best you could ask for from T.J - keep going!!!

i haven't seen him live yet so i don't know..i suppose it
has much to do with the sound setup in particular venue.

that was a totally wank chord progression
people used to compare him to Jaco
but Jaco never slapped -- all pizzicato
maybe {}pusher isn't worth getting on a plane...
