LAZY_VID
Low quality, you might wanna turn up the contrast on your monitor. The sound came in pretty clear, as it was LOUD AS FUCK.
I dunno why every concert I go to, the guys in the back of the booth insist on cranking up the treble and bass so far that you can't even hear the mids.
My gf hated it. She's big into melodics and whatnot (I guess I am too, but I'm pretty laxed about it) I was totally expecting lots of noise, which half of it was. The dudes screen kept going blue for some reason (you can see it in the video).
Some parts were excellent, both sound wise and visually. Most notably a part where this sick ass beat came in, then when Richie sped it up you could totally tell that the entire beat was a motorcycle engine being revved. There was a short 2 min part with lots pretty water sounds accompanied by beautiful shots of flowers and plants. I wish that lasted longer. Otherwise the rest of it was just a bunch of overbearing harsh sounds, delays, stutters and high freq mayhem.
Carsten Nicolai aka Alva noto, was really really really boring. I've seen better visuals with my winamp plugins. I'm not even kidding. Black background with white dots, for 30 min, with an extremely repetetive ambient backing track. Shit was weak.

Have you listened to Alva Noto much? Or were you expecting something more along the transall cycle?
Kind of like richard devine, its not the kind of thing you get into on the first listen. However, alva noto isn't someone I would think of for seeing live music. Its more something in the background when you are pondering math or DSP.

I saw Richard Devine play outdoors in a lush forest december last year, it was absolutely intense. I really liked it though. Lots of people there expecting some kind of psy trance... started freaking out, not able to cope at all!

I had no idea who Alva Noto was until then. For someone who's played at such illustrious places like Guggenheim, I was kinda expecting more. Especially because Pagano totally had some of the illest visuals that made you feel like you were tripping. Alva Noto was just, the opposite. My buddy said he closed his eyes and made his own visuals.
