Just messing around making drum sounds from scratch with
the Wasp synth in Fruityloops. Anyone else use softsynths to
do drums.

Listen to a little demo.

im too lazy to make my own beats from stratch, i just use
some drum sounds like the roland 909 kit and mess with them
in soundforge

sounds great. kick's a bit odd still, but overall very good!
just needs some eq-ing out, maybe, if you want these to be
the only drum elements in the mix. beef it up. i understand
that this is just a little test render, though! i love using
synths for drums, the album i'm working on is just self
rendered stuff from synths etc for everything. well, either
that or personal recordings.

With the whitenoise and filters and stuff. Just trial and
error.
I was reading about Kraftwerk and how they made beats with a
moog, so I thought I'd give it a go with the wasp.

all the drums in my tracks wednesday and
alarm chrono were done in operator (fm synth if you don't
know it) from scratch. it's fun if you can get into it

They sound good, is operator freeware?

no, it's a part of ableton... you can get a totally
legitimate copy of it easily though.

oooh! an album?

downloading. those two are great!

I always wondered what you use for making music.. for some
reason I imagined you had a microkorg and that was all you
used cause it made sense that you'd be crouched over it (on
a desk that was way lower than what the lowest setting on
your big wooden chair that was still adjustable), pressing
buttons and just trying to twist one of the knobs the
smallest amount possible by just holding on to it and
thinking about moving it...

I usually use Reason and Soundforge, but sometimes I like to
mess about in floops.

Yep. I'm doing some minimal techno at the moment that uses
entirely synthesised sounds.

i used simsynth and coolEdit's tone and noise generators to
make drum-like sounds.. always liked to use varius crap
instead of usual sounds in my former music-making attempts

That's pretty nice, I should start experimenting with
seperate drum synths. Drumatic is still my favourite VST
wise.

I know there are lots of good drumsynths out there, but I'm
talking about makin' beats with basic softsynths like Wasp
and TS404.

Made some snares with the noise from the 3xosc in fruity
once. Turned out alright actually

for drums, when you trigger the oscillation, it's usually
advised that it starts with the same phase position of the
waveform. When you have a free running oscillator and you
just open the gate to let the signal pass your drum is going
to sound different each time. I think your bassdrum is doing
this swears

with hardware my eyes keeps safes and dont dry with screens
software.

so the drums i do depends on the volume and EQs.
yo!..Laserbreak! thanks for help, now i can do it.
