looking for something that can actually "Create" sounds
rather than just modifying them. i have nch tone generator,
and it's decent, but i need something with a broader
spectrum. free is preferred, but low cost is nice too.

you can buy a commodore c 64,it gots things to create your
owns *sounds.
..but in yor situation i would take a cheap taper recorder
with mini cassettes and record sounds of your house, and
outside and school or job.and then use some machine to use
it-cos i see the photos of the "post yr studio and you got
many keybords and things......the sounds of tape and
winds, and people spoking will be very good on yr musics.

You could load up one of the thousands of free soft synths
and samples in the wonderful Minihost by tobybear and set
the recorder to record synth hits
http://www.tobybear.de/p_minihost.html (or even if you just
want to organize presets, test synths or something, very
good utility for anyone to have). Also check out:
http://www.andyware.com/abox2/index.html (recently made
free)
http://cps.bonneville.nl/?a=cps (recently made free)
jeskola's Buzz modular tracker (sequencer with tons of cool
shit)

Keep looking out there. Lots of great stuff.
