so, perhaps for christmas or some time soon, im gonna get
all the individual dvds 1-6. AND THEN I'LL WRAP MYSELF IN MY
StAR WARS BED COVERS AND HAVE A STAR WARS-ATHON and i will
lose my brain and eyes

I'll probably lose the battle next week to not buy the
others too.

I know most people don't like the remastered versions with
added footage, but I'm the type of person who, now that I
know that there is an extended version, if I don't have it I
will feel like I'm missing out. And I didn't mind the added
footage, thought it was kind of nice, actually.

Sorry if this post is confusing, im a bit drunk.

the original films appealled to all age groups. there was
something for the spacenerds, something for the action cats,
and stuff in it for children. the characters were somewhat
complex too, i mean, nothing too deep or anything, but you
didn't really know if han was a good guy or the kind of guy
that'd blast a bounty hunter in cold blood and sell out his
friends...

then, lucas fucked up the depth in those characters with
subtle but significant ways, goofed up jabbas lair with
campy fucking lame ass antics, and added distracting CG..

and the prequels were just flat out goofy. appealing mainly
to children and alienated the other age groups.

POO2HIM I say, POO2HIM.

I agree wholly with Epohs. Lucas is the most arrogant fuck
ever. He created a film that millions of people thought was
FANTASTIC, generations of kids loved it, re-enaacted it,
dreamt about it, bought up the merchandise to maintain the
sense of wonder and immersion in an alternative reality,
unlike any other science fiction film before or since.

And Lucas went "No, you're all wrong, it's meant to be more
like this actually..." and just did a digital shat, released
on over 1,000,000 different formats.

That's pretty spot on. But I still love Star Wars and I even
enjoy watching the new movies for my own geeky reasons
(trainspotting stuff, getting a feel of the atmosphere etc.)

I don't know - I'm not the world's biggest Lucas fan, and I
don't like the 'Special' editions of the films at all, but
it was his vision (so he says), and what he'd wanted to do
from the beginning. I'm just glad he made the original
trilogy at a time before technology was advanced enough for
him to have made the Special Editions without the original
versions.

It's annoying that the original films are only available in
2-disc sets with the special editions which have already
been released (not that I have them anyway). A triple-disc
set of just the three films would have been fine and dandy.

haha! remember when he released the special eds for the
first time on dvd! and people bought them! then a year
later, he released them again, but without the bonus fourth
disc from the first box set! then, he released them AGAIN!
this time, with the original versions! swell!!

I'm sorry I'm not ~~~FrOm ThE fUtuRe~~~, but the new Lego
Stars Wars just came out two days ago! And I think the new
one will be particularly rad because it's Episodes 4-6. I
wanted to like the other one but I have too little affection
for the prequels.

playing a good star wars game based on the original trilogy
is something ive wanted to do for a long time. it wouldve
been ace if it was similar to jedi outcast or something, but
making it in lego seems a bit... eh.
hopefully it wont suck ass.

The original trilogy for SNES were some great old-school
platformers, probably still my favorite Star Wars games.

true that, but theyre a tad hard.. still good, and for some
reason, i also like the original star wars on nes, as crap
as it may be. nothing beats the music that comes on when you
play as han : D
as for favourite star wars games.. would have to go to jedi
knight or jedi outcast. thats enough star wars talk for
today : )

hi thad, yup I'm doing pretty good - enrolled in college
studying computing.

I remember playing the arcade version of the original
trilogy about 15 years ago-- remember piloting as luke to
defeat the death star and then you had to do it backwards,
or something. it was really quite awesome, unlike my memory.

Yeah, way too hard, but I always used those cheats at the
title screens.

OT- in Super Empire Strikes Back, whenever you
''unsheathed'' your lightsaber, it looked like Luke was
popping a massive blue boner. It was funny at the time.
