this is just to inform all the artists on the "fractured
scapes" that the compilation cd in process and underway as
indicated in a mesage by Aktium..has nothing whatsoever to
do with me. His plans include remixing the tracks as well
as charging for the resulting complilation. Both of these
are strictly against my beliefs. I believe that only the
artists involved can give their permision for their music to
be remixed and or placed on a compilation which is going to
be charged for and mailed out by Aktium. While if all the
artists are consenting and agreeing to this venture then I
dont see any problems with it as such..but I personally dont
want to be involved in any financial, copyright and legal
wrangles there of and have thus asked Aktium to remove the
name "fractured scapes" and any references to the station.
I want to keep running fractured scapes as a non profit and
totally voluntary submission based station. I am including
an email sent to me by Aktium and my response...

yay!! i was hoping to find you. im just making a
compilation album of the songs on your station. its
just for personal use to start out with. im gonna mix
the songs together then maybe ill mail the cds out to
people for like a fee of $10 or something, which you
would get a percentage of accorse. i wanna name the
album fractured scapres too. its a good title. please
send me your input on this. any artwork too that you
may have in mind.
ill talk to you later. peace.
Aktium

hello Aktium

I dont like the idea of charging the people to get the cd
comprising of their own music. Any charge should also have a
percentage going to the artists contributing the music as
well and I realise that it will be a logistical
impossibility. Also I believe that any artists whose music
is being used should give their express approval, another
step I am yet to see you take.

I would like for you to remove the name "fractured scapes"
from

here is my email response in complete form

running the station as a free service in the name of good
will, and refuse to be a part of financial and legal
wrangles that might arise from this venture. While you are
at it please refrain from using any of my songs..my music is
on the station as the following artists...

I was thinking of doing a similar thing, only getting the
funding to make the cd from the government and tabacco
companies, and only charging the people who got the cd
distrobution... (so baisically less than a dollar per double
disc set).

Hmmm.

what I "would" encourage people to do is to download the
songs themselves make themselves compliations out of artists
and songs they like and then If they want to share it with
their respective friends families etc..feel free to do so as
long as the names of the artists and their urls are written
down for the respective people to explore further as and
when they might choose to.

while this matter is under discussion I have placed the
station on non active status.

cool animation/gif flea :)

mmhh.. i don't mind the idea "as such" - but yeah .. would
be kinda nice if aktium informed the artists before anything
"semi-official" was going on. personally i have no problem
with compilations and the sort .. but yeah .. communication
is key or something :)

my point exactly..the artists have a right to know what's
happening to their music and if it is being remixed by some
one and placed on a compilation..they should definetly know
about it.

and yes i alredy said the artsts urls will be in the inlay.
the only reason why would want a small fee would be for
shiping and haneling. im gonna make this project, but im
not planning on selling it on the streets or anything.
basically for personal use. everyone seemed to like the
idea of getting a ccopy. everyones been sending me artwork
a nd helping me out.

i just thought it would be a cool project.
and i never said ill be remixing songs.
i didn't know that little project like this would be such a
contriversy.

it is a controversial issue Aktium...it's about people's
intellectual property...and it involves legwork..umm
webwork
all is not lost..contact all the artists..get their
approval..get a different name and there you are..

I agree, but I wasn't too worried because nobody would buy
it given they can download the tracks themselves... I guess
there are a few who don't have a cd burner though... It's
very dumb if only one person makes money off it though, but
if it's just for shipping them and for the blank cd
purchases, hmm... It seemed like a fairly harmless offer.
I'm not sure actually.

yeah it's harmles enough but when it comes to intellectual
property i become a bit worried..if it's got the name
fractured scapes on it..all the investigation trails would
end up on my door..if you know what I mean..
call it something else..I am fine with it!
plus no I dont wanna touch any money off it...

peaple live all over the world here. mabe if i just turned
the cds into mp3 files peaople could just download the mix
then no money would be involved.

I won't worry about it unless my tracks are included...But
if any of them are then If theres profit I'd like to see
some. If theres not fine by me. If theres remixing I want
t know. As long as I know I proly won't care...
