hey... the QII soundtrack is pretty good in my opinion, it's got some good riffs, from a guitarist's point of view (me)... but the quake I soundtrack is a lot better...

Quake 2 Soundtrack was Created by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), Basicly some riffs he made in a couple of days or something.
I consider myself a NIN fan, and i really dont like this soundtrack still. Youre better of with "The downward spiral" or something.
and another thing, wich i cant say enough. for you who really enjoys aggresive music, Try out
ATARI TEENAGE RIOT
I came to think of them, cause trent reznor said he really liked them, and they warmed up for NIN for some time actually.
ALSO NIN RELATED
On "Further Down the Spiral" (a remix album of the downward spiral), there appears an Aphex twin track just among the other Remixes! Apparently they just thought it was so good it deserved to be on the album.....

Futher Down The Spiral is a good album to play in the background as you are playing Quake multiplayer, along with Downward Spiral.
Though I do like the Quake soundtrack. It is very ambientish, and I like to fall asleep with that music, although my family thinks its kinda creepy. Another good soundtrack to fall asleep to are from the Myst trilogy (Myst, Riven, and Myst 3).

Talking of soundtracks, one that is quality for scaring the shit out of you whilst playing Quake or a similar game, is the soundtrack to Leon. Especially the first tune, the one in the film where Gary Oldman goes to collect his drug money and wastes Matilda's family.
You've got to have it booming out of your speakers, obviously. It will get you totally paranoid and have you filling your pants........

one note... the quake II soundtrack was made by sonic mayhem, not trent reznor, it was the quake I soundtrack that was produced by him...

i think i mentioned this the other day, wonder if it was on this site.
uyeah quake soundtrack is basically the game CD. therefore track one is all data. Its silent 40 mins or so (i wish you could hear modem connect type noises for data..)
po{e} - theres not much guitar...and it works REALLY well. I wouldnt bag it til I heard it, coz I'm not into rock type stuff (ok ok i lie)...whatever. I reckon its the shit!
