Hi all,

had a bit of an internal battle over my morning cup of tea +
rollup over whether registering on a forum and then
immediately posting an ad for my night counts as spamming.
Having decided that, although borderline, i'd probably get
away with it, I'm now wondering if maybe I'm only writing
this paragraph in an attempt to pass the Turing test and
prove i'm not a bot... hmm..

Anyway, We're running a night in Brixton that I thought
might interest some of you. It's called Yardcore , and
it's a mashup of dubstep, breaks, jungle, breakcore, idm,
acid, hardcore, gabba, bashment, and related musical
subspecies.
Our second installment, unleashed on Friday 22nd Sept, at
the Telegraph in Brixton, plays host to:

Mu-ziq (live) - Planet Mu, Rephlex
Hellfish - Deathchant, Planet Mu
Bong Ra(live) - Sublight, Ad Noiseam
Monkey Steak(live) - GRIM DUBS, deathsucker
Apple Blim - Skull Disco
Mully (live) - Wrong Music
Scheme Boy (live) - adverse Camber
Stormfield - Combat

plus Yardcore residents Rum, RRRitalin, MashforCash,
Fracture and guests. Live visuals from Venga and Jo

Tickets are £10 available on the door. Help finding your
way to the venue will soon be available from the yardcore
myspace.

Hopefully see you there!

Ps. We're always scouring everywhere we can think of for new
artists. If you'd like to play live or DJ for us, drop us a
line at yardcoreLDN@gmail.com with a link to a set. (please
no mp3s straight to our inbox!)

yep... as in yard (jamaican patois for home, gaff, place of
residence, place to keep yer shed.) and core (centre,
essence, kernel, extremity, cockney expression of dismay)

the idea behind the night is to provide a musical selection
that works equally well on the dancefloor or at home.
Neither completely chin-strokey, nobody's dancing minimal
soundscapes or mindless, do loads of ketamine kick drums,
but somewhere in between :)

oh yeah, when we came up with the name we either didnt know
about or had temporarily forgotten (can't remember which)
about Bong Ra's mix of the same name. We didn't know about
the Jamaican Pornographic film company who took our desired
domain name either!

It's scheduled to run until 4am now. Was going to be 6 but
the venue have been mucking us about (we're moving after
this one!)
The venue's called the Telegraph, it's on Brixton hill.
There's a pub/bar area out front, Room 2's a bar/small
dancefloor area, and Room 1 is large and loud, with a decent
light rig and projection system for the visuals, and a stage
for the performers. Have a look at the review of our
first event on Dontstayin.com. There's some pics and
short videos of performances and rave folk havin a fatty.

Hellfish is going to be awesome! I can't wait...
