this was quite a good film, not so much the acting, the acting could have been more real and not so wanky, the story was good, the music was good (that country hum song), the actors who were in it;river pheonix/keeanu reeves etc... i really enjoyed the locations;northwest usa is such a beautiful place for cities;portland/seattle the overall look of this film was great, but it sucks i rented the shittest quality version, it was not scanned right, it looked like it had been telecined from vhs! seriously i cant beleive i watch such a good film on this horrible quality dvd made from like 1997, i wish i had know about the criterion dvd FUCK!!! i'm gonna go down to my video store and blast them;fucking arseholes they are, allowing a shit quakity dvd like this being sold!!! overall what are you're thoughts? |

Yeah, good movie. Gus Van Sant is one of my favorite directors. Although, the Shakespeare stuff is a bit awkward, the movie still works and I think the acting was meant to be the way it was--not to mention that you're dealing with Keanu after all. But you should try to catch Gus' other movies, especially: Elephant Gerry Last Days They're quite different and unique. Oh yeah, the Criterion version is the only way to go. |

river pheonix was such a talent. So much better and more engaging than keanu. I too thought it was so foretelling the way river would have siezures in the film. |
