soda but i think the rest of the US says pop.

Just like we say "bubblers" and everywhere else i have to
say "waterfountiain" even though i am trying to drink water
and not throw quarters at it!

soda = a sparkling sweet drink
cola = a particular kind of sparkling sweet drink
("pepsi-cola" is a cola and a soda, but "sprite" is just a
soda, not a cola)
pop = some kind of music/art

Ooh do you really say "bubbler?" I must have lived in a
pocket of Wisconsin that didn't say that during my formative
years...I say "drinking fountain."

where i grew up in the country, they'd say "minerals" or
"mineral waters"..

elsewhere, if you're getting a coke, you're getting a coke.
if you're getting something else that's fizzy, you're
getting a "drink". simple.
