Yeah, I read it during my teenage sci-fi phase. A little bit too self-consciously manic in places, but otherwise great.
You should also check out Halo by Tom Maddox, (nothing to do with the game) if you're into early-90's post-cyberpunk stuff.

Spoilers, maybe...
Just finished this book not too long ago--in fact it's right here to the side of my keyboard. I enjoyed it, but I sort of expected more from it after hearing so much about it... and especially after often hearing Stephenson mentioned so many times along side of Gibson. I think it was mostly the technology presented in Snow Crash that bothered me. I felt like it was really never explained exactly how one interfaces with the metaverse. For the most part it seemed to be influenced by external actions (movement of eyes, etc.) but that didn't seem to account for all of the actions possible there. In contrast, I felt Gibson's cyberspace was much more believable, in that it took an approach that was pretty much impossible to relate to at this time, and therefore difficult to find flaws in. I also didn't enjoy the ending much because it never lead up to anything big. I suppose having a huge perspective changing ending isn't required, but they are neat.
I've also read Cryptonomicon, and thought that was a much better book than Snow Crash, as far as I could judge, because they are nothing alike.
Currently reading The Difference Engine by Gibson and Sterling.

I read an excerpt of it for a college class.. thought it was pretty cool. The main thing I liked about it was the fact that they live in a storage locker. That really spoke to me somehow. (I am remembering correctly, aren't I?)
