i've been looking into this whole 8bit stuff, and i love the sounds.
i'm considering building up a bogstandard PC just so i can run a HardSID Quattro on it (slaved to my Atari)....
has anyone got any experience messing with SID stuff, particularly the HardSID Quattro?
i had looked at the SIDstation by Elektron, but i've heard some people saying they're quite noisy (background hum and fuzz) and require a lot of gating to get a cleaner sound.

You can get 2 versions of the sid chip for the hard sid cards. 1 is the original (and best) which comes with all the bad noise as it should. The other is a later revision which has alot cleaner sound.
If you get a hard sid card make sure you get both the chips so you can switch betweem them.
The sidstation is just brilliant.

Also, don't rely on getting one new: " Stock report, SidStation: 0 Last SidStation shipped to UK on 2006-07-12. "
