use it. I never really bothered playing with samplers but
now i want to try but it looks all so confusing!

anyone use vst samplers? what do you use them for (beats,
tunes etc?) ?

it's awesome! I got it a while back and it's great to play
with!

figuring out how it works is a mystery even with the manual,
though.. I got as far as mapping samples across the synth.

The basic areas of kontakt should be pretty easy to get the
hang of if you play around with it for a good hour or so.
The more advanced stuff like writting scripts will take some
time learning. Its great for adding lfo's to things like
sample start and delay rate for some good variations in your
sample. I love the way native instruments sets up their lfo
rates too. Give you a good control over the way the sounds
go.

For more basic intuitive sample mapping, I always suggest
intakt. It allows on the fly mapping and sample arrangement.
Chopping up of beats and then arranging where the sounds go
isn't easier.

how do I change the frequency of the pitch modulation
thingie I put on? I can only make it go at one rate and the
only slider can only change both depth and rate at the same
time and not by much, mind you...

which pitch modulation thingie? There is more than one pitch
modulation option. Did you assign it from and to a source?

When you turn on modulation, you have to set up a source,
say an LFO or a midi CC. Then you need to assign it to one
of the knobs in your instrument. Those drop down menus will
show you what you can choose. The slider just decides
amount, or wet and dry.

Right click on the knob you want modulated. Choose LFO. A
little LFO window thing will appear at the bottom of your
sample. Edit from there. That should show you how it works.

just smoked way too many cigarettes while chewing nicotine
gum.

modulate...

It's fun to see you help people with their IT problems. What
do you get out of it?

Nothing much. Its kind of a spiritual thing. Humans will be
judged by historians by their art and their technology. I
feel its important to help the cycle by making it less
troublesome for people trying to practice their art.
Therefor, in helping people as much as possible with their
art, I act - to an extent -as one of many catalysts for
people that both represent and (hopefully) further our
culture.

As far as I can see, the best way to go about this is to do
it trying to get as little recognition for it as possible.

I didn't want that to sound so arrogant, but I guess it
does.

I don't necessarily believe the people that make the art are
as important as what the art is representing in their
environment, or the thousands of people that helped make
that art possible. The people who make it are just as
responisble for that art as what influenced it and the
people who developed the technology for that art.

well, on the left there's that explorer like thing and it
has a few tabs. I haven't got the program here as I'm not at
home, but there is a tab under which one gets a list of
different modulators.. I then select the sine one and drag
it on top of the button I want it to apply to. A new control
strip appears, and the button gets modulated, but the
problem is that there is only one control for changing
something, and this control only simultaneously changes both
modulation rate and level and not by very much...
