And yet it seems you do care cos you closed it down! :-)
Anyway, I really don't mind, just seems weird that's
all...may I propose that you don't close down that duplicate
Aphex interview topic that's just appeared? :-)

Anyway, to get back to the subject, does anyone wanna talk
about it? :-/

What's the first single from it, from back in 2000? How many
tracks? Warp seems quiet on the subject...

so to summarise:

more threads have been started and closed. i've lost count,
but you get the picture.

and yes, it's still a long long time till october. like 3
months, which is around 90 days. for your convenience, make
it a 100. or better yet 130. it's not going to be the first
time warp puts back the release date. and i'm not being
sarcastic either.
or am i?

HELLO EVERYTHING!!!1

tom is a conceptual artist, not an experimental one. anyone
read david galenson's book "old masters and young
geniuses?"

this is the man who (arguably) invented drill and
bass. if it's a choice between "another album that sounds
just like squarepusher," or "no more squarepusher albums"
i'll take a new squarepusher any day of the week and twice
on sunday. i'll probably get it from bleep though since his
artwork is usually not that interesting to me.

looking forward to this

if that is so, i wonder why so many genres die out then..
any day now he will be just like aaron the snares, except
that toms' music takes a little more effort i guess.

i think drill and bass or whatchamacallit is a fun concept,
for a few tracks, it's nonsense as a style

Points: 23903 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

i think vsnares is pretty cool though, you'd almost think
squarepusher keeps stubbornly making drill because he's
pissed because vsnares supposedly ripped his style and is
better at it

according to galenson's book (he's an economist who
catalogued an unbelievable amount of artwork),
conceptualists do all of their truly groundbreaking art at a
young age. the most valued works from them (and also the
works that appear most often in textbooks) are their early
works. i'd say vsnares falls into the conceptual category as
well.

as for why they die out, who was it that said "nothing gets
old faster than a new sound??"

vsnares is click-and-cut based on gabber, not drill and
bass. 2 different stlyes to my ears. if i were to guess i'd
say tom doesn't give a shit about what anyone besides
himself is doing

i don't believe in that anymore, i think artists later on
get boring because they don't feel they have to prove
themselves anymore

imo it's sort of advanced drill and bass and a few gabber
influenced tracks. im totally no expert at this music though

the concept being 'i'll make the same music for my whole
life'?
i would think it gets a little boring after 20 albums or so.
he just seems like a dude with potential (same as aaron) and
it's a shame they waste their talent in same thing being
done over and over again. that's all.

bass"???

sounds like Anstromm-Feck 4 - i totally dig that song.
being an avid []< fan - its been great. i dont think i've
really been all that dissapointed with the releases as of
yet.

not only that, hes one of the only artists i've had the
pleasure of saying ive actually seen live!
:F

how long have i been a fan? for a while - id say 7 years
now.
i think it was in part brought on to me via aphex twin,
along the time when nothing records (NIN) was distributing
for autechre, vibert and jenkinson

the track is very like anstromm feck 4.. which i love..

this is almost cheesier..

whereas i get my kicks imagining armed arabs dancing around
in circles to anstromm.. this one just sounds plain cheesy..

you're right you know, Tom should stop playing bass to
distinguish himself and Aaron and Tom both should stop doing
electronic music because it all sounds the same. Huh?

no, Vin3islih has a point. tom and aaron would be much
better as shelf-stackers. they should quit electronic music.

yeah like mr jenkinson never proved he can do wathever he
wants as far as (electronic) music goes...

and i put electronic in parentheses because i'll probably be
attacked on the fact he didn't do that much acoustic or not
electronic stuff, but MIRON and ultravisitor totally proved
to me that he can grasp a fucking wide range of style and
influences and blend them splendidly

people think what they want, but saying he rehashes old
ideas all the time is really not founded (i mean, hello,
it's ONE track from an ENTIRE album to come...)

anyway this is good news !
