recommend me some lovely ones.. point and click ones are
good, but I also remember I enjoyed that one ultima game
that looks a bit like diablo. new and old are the same, but
no text-only games.

scummvm runs all of the classic lucasarts games and a
few others which you should be able to find quite easily.
they've got beneath a steel sky for free on the extras bit
of the download page.

also, I'd actually like to test some new ones if there are
any good ones coming out these days... I liked Fahrenheit,
and I think that's kind of adventure...

of the old ones, I got all the "classics" down like monkey
island, dott, etc...

also, are those "the longest journey" and "dreamfall" really
worth it or are they just hyped over here because they are
produced by a norwegian company?

Get Abandonia into your life

I like Police Quest games/Blue Force/crime stuff like that,
Beneath a Steel Sky (great visuals), Maniac Mansion/Day of
the Tentacle, etc. Kind of annoying how you need Dos Box to
run some of these games though.

Gumshoe, The Uninvited, Shadowgate, I liked the NES versions
of those games, they're well worth playing if you can find
the PC versions.

awesome! They don't beat the underdogs, but it looks a bit
more manageable...

I never really got into police quest.. probably because we
never got past that insane "give field sobriety test"
thingie (you'd probably need the manual to figure it out
plus we were only ten (or something) and norwegian).

it has pictures :P

what i would recommend seriously tho is Universe. probably
available on abandonware, or get an amiga emulator. buggy as
hell tho, but a quality adventure game.

put it in action?

I remember that, it was called Out of this World over here.
Cool game though I never did beat it. Out of this World,
Nosferatu, Blackthorne, S.O.S, and especially Flashback... a
lot of really swell side-scrolling action games I had a lot
of fun with on the SNES.

Remember Lost Vikings? Fuck that game was tight, so...
rewarding. Anybody know some similarly laid-out games?

there was a lost vikings two I think... other than that I'm
not sure what games are similar.. I liked the co-op aspect
of it.

the best thing about another world is that one single
guy made it and it is soo much better than anything put out
by large companies at the time!

Grim Fandango is said to be excellent.

As for The Longest Journey - I'm getting really tired of
this fantasy bullshit. Prophecies, messiahs - it's all so
forced adn uninspired. At this very moment I'm installing
Dreamfall, I'll give it a try anyway.

Can anyone recommend me some painfully realistic adventure
games. I remember an old title called Stupidity Inc. I'd
love something in that manner.

I loved the Broken Sword games, apart from the dreadful
third title.

Has anyone heard of an adventure game called "Toonstruck"?
It was brilliant!

5 days a stranger is a very good game in a retro-style, along
with 7 days a skeptic, and I think there is another newer
one that I havent played.

monkey island series is the best i feel, except for number
2, i don't care for that release much. i've completed all 4
and 1 3 and 4 are fantastic :)

Grim Fandango is by the same company, but i didn't get into
it as much. it's not as cheerful a game. it's longer and
harder though.

Also 'kings quest' is heaps cool, and really old school. i
played it a few years back.

beneath a steel sky was quite good, actually.. a few of the
puzzles boil down to "try everything on everything and talk
to everyone once more" (in other words they aren't puzzles,
just bumps in the road that take time), but it's fun to
play.

recommended: all things lucasarts, some things sierra

Sadly some of these adventures haven't aged well, and I'm
not talking of graphics but the gameplay that relies on
aimless wandering around and random point-and-click mayhem.

Broken Sword 1 and 2 are still wonderful, though. If one is
into playing old games, I'd recommend getting versions with
speech, because it brings another dimension to it. Sadly
Monkey Island 1 and 2 don't have speech, but Sam'n'Max, Day
Of The Tentacle, Full Throttle, Simon The Sorcerer 1 & 2,
The Dig, The Loom and others have voice-overs. All these are
recommended.

Surprised nobody's mentioned Larry yet! There's one series
that's still going on.

One Sierra series I can't let pass: Gabriel Knight, together
with its FMV sequel GK2 - The Beast Within. Both are
masterpieces.

hmm.. the only games of those mentioned I haven't played yet
are gabriel knight and the broken sword ones.. I'm getting
those, but I don't know how long it'll take.. I found this
"SCUMMVM GAMES PACK" thingie...

sam n max and day of the tentacle are wonderfuls! full
throttle was.. well, I can't remember much of it to be
honest, but I know I played through it. Simon the sorcerer..
I think I got stuck on one.. if that wasn't discworld...
anyway, I just stopped playing it. I need the dig. The loom
was great, actually, and I first played it a long time ago,
then forgot about it, and suddenly I got an urge to re-play
it and I did and it was great again!

larry kind of went bad after.. well.. one.

ok, I just started on escape from delirium.. it could be
good, but so far the puzzles have been disappointing... also
simultaneously started on the adventures of the fth
musketeer, but I haven't really gotten anywhere yet.. looks
promising, though...
