If you can, get a pair of mono phone jack to single RCAs
instead of a stereo phone jack to dual rca.

Is that better sound quality wise? I've connected gear both
ways and never really noticed a difference (not that I was
looking for one). Or is it just to prevent that irritating
"sound only coming out of one channel" problem you get as
the connectors get loose?

Well, if you run a stereo out from either the left or the
right, it can 1) damage the equipment depending on how its
designed 2) you loose certain amounts of sound 3) I find its
always best to use line outs for line outs and headphone
outs for headphones. Unless it has stereo line out which
would be an absolute oddity in a keyboard.

Would running a mono-> stereo on something designed for mono
(eg, using the left hand side "single/mono channel") and
plugging it into the stereo L&R line in ports of a mixer be
a problem?

Im sure the rm1x will have rca outs which you can just
connect to the rca ins on your amp. if it doesnt then youll
need the adaptor like you posted

I am under the impression that that might make it sound a
bit thinner than had you used two single lines.
