puma advertising. this advertising alone dissuades me from
buying anthing from them, ever... : /

...not that i'd be likely to buy sport shoes any time soon
anyway (i'm a lazy fuck and don't do sports, and i don't
really like the style).

i like how there's the whole 'moral' thing with sneakers and
brands... when in fact most of what we own is built under
dodgy conditions in asia anyway... nike got heavily
criticised and rightly so , as they just made contracts with
chinese factory owners and never looked further saying it
wasn't their problem. this has lead to quite big changes in
nike (and subsequently other major brands in the field) and
their relation with the factories that produce their stock..
no more under-aged workers, insane overtime etc.. and people
from the company on site at all times. thing is you have
companies like DC who people think must be much more 'asian
friendly' than nike and that's just bollocks.

but anyway, just talking about design and marketing
approach, i'll say nike any day.. all the others can do is
follow, exept maybe puma who have all these motor racing
shoes out, wich i find disgustingly repulsive but that
everyone wears. reebok and adidas have their classics but
not much else going on i find, and this is from two
companies that at one point didn't believe in re-releasing
old models at all.

new balance still build certain shoes in the UK (they are
an american companiy though), wich is great. their shoes are
pretty good and quite technical.. some of their classics
were very high-end at the time of release.
also asics deserve a mention. a runners fave.

dc make ugly fat shoes, and on the skate side of things i
would favour Vans any day.
