Half of their stuff is utter shit.

fuck off, punk. just about everything after and including
rubber soul is monumental except for the white album which
is a bit uneven, i think. the stuff before is a bit hit and
miss but there are loads of sweet songs on that as well,
really. there's something about their songwriting that
always seemed so thought through and solid, it's far more
layered and interesting than pop music these days :(

John Lennon: Genius
Rest: Wankers

Look at Mccartney copying himself endlessly.

I don't know about that. I just think he's the true
innovator of the whole band. Ringo seems nice, but he's just
a skin hitter, as ozzy would say. Paul always seemed like an
asshole to me. Yesterday is good tho, i must admit.

But try listening to Lennons solo stuff. It's really
interesting/cool. I'd love to have heard what he would be
able to do today, it certainly wouldnt be Paul Mccartney
style wank.

McCartney was the best Beatle. He was a flake but he had the
most open mind, the broadest range of influences, the most
natural talent, and far and away the best solo career. He's
the only one that has more than two or three really good
albums. Even the last album he put out was full of superb
songwriting.

I havent bothered listening to the last McCartney album, but
i did read some very good reviews of it.

I just think, for an innovative band like the Beatles, it
annoys me that he sticks to making music, the exact same way
he did 30 years ago.

The reason you can't get around the Beatles, is their huge
influence on music in general, and the way the world
percepted it. And for me, it just seems that Lennon was the
primus motor of them making innovative music.

I do respect your opinion, as my mom thinks the same as you
=D

I appreciate, especially the late period. You just don't
come across this clear and clever harmonies in pop music
anymore.

See, that's just not true at all. Paul has a myriad of
electronic side projects and collaborations, sound collages,
did soundtracks, has a few classical releases... now, I'm
not a big fan of any of these experiments, but he most
definitely branches out. His pop albums naturally are the
only ones that get any publicity. And even then, he's
tackled every form of pop imaginable on those albums.

I think if John hadn't had Paul around, he would have just
been content to ''rock and roll'' (he said as much) and not
push the envelope with things like Tomorrow Never Knows and
Strawberry Fields (both of which Paul had a lot of creative
input in).

I love John (he's my second favorite musician, Paul is my
first... was the other way around for years) but Paul gets a
bad rap because he isn't ''edgy'' and he's not dead.
