good times to be alive

pretty cool, yes? Most of us have seen the rise of video
games from their most infantile stages, the birth of
internet gaming/ birth of the internet itself, being part of
it. Yeah. The rise and evolution of electronic music. Creepy
thinking that those who helped shaped it are still alive and
producing albums in our lifetimes. Life isn't so bad.

Just seeing all the changes, speaking generally about the
world... in general... :P Maybe sometime in the future a
utopia will exist and those people will read about us in
their history books imagining what it would be like to live
the way we do now.

I dunno, it's complicated. People in the west have access to
all kinds of material goods and even ideas and freedoms that
we've never had before. But whether that makes us happier or
not is hard to say.
If we ever did reach a state of utopia, it would probably be
very dull.

Sure there are burdens that technology brings, but there's
really nothing we can do about the way humanity is running
its course. So sit back and relax, eh? Smoke a fatty and
grab some teet.

We can enjoy all the art and thingamabobs from past
generations, plus our own. It's great. Information overload
can be nervewracking but it's a GREAT problem to have. And I
envy our grandchildren, unless they all have weird
mutations. Unless the mutations are claws or exo-skeletons
or something.

Plus, like, you know, medical advances, which are pretty...
important I guess. It's nice to know we're in much better
hands now than the neanderthals that called themselves
doctors years ago.

• musically: definitely, now is a great time to live!
• technologically: same thing.
• politically: not too sure. it seems to be turning more
and more towards right-wing lately, i'm worried every time
the government makes a new law... i'm worried in general.
• socially: it seemed to me that it was getting better and
better, but now starting to be on the wane... it seems
harder and harder to get a job, racism and misogyny are
growing again...

that "playground pentagram" story seems like bullshit to
me... though it would help to see a picture of it...

—

the list isn't very convincing i think. religion has been
around (and has made terrible damage) for milleniums, it's
nothing new. i fail to see what's the problem with freedom,
apartments or holidays... etc. i won't comment on every word
but some of those seem to be picked at random to make a
longer list.

and i fail to see what's the problem with both genders
getting closer to each other either. fuck "manliness" and
"womanliness"; for me people are persons before being female
or male, black or white, etc.

a conservative person.. no, not at all really.

as for the list.. you're not reading it properly...

When he says "religion", you need to read into it. think
about what religion means today. religion being hijacked for
other ends (although, in some cases, it always was) is what
i think it probably means.. that one's a bit hazy, and
especially since the importance of the role religion plays
in society has plumetted in the past 50 years, i certainly
wouldn't have included it.

freedom is much easier to understand. it's bandied about as
a buzz-word. it's also a piece of doublespeak.

apartments and holidays.. well, being irish, i know what
he's talking about, but perhaps it's more difficult for
people from sunny countries. it's like another sign of
wealth.. the villa in spain/italy/wherever, taking trips
over every summer and bragging to friends and family about
the coming trip months in advance..

i don't support or agree with the list 100%, certainly not.
but it's food for thought.

i did understand that "religion" meant some kind of
degenerateness that came from religion (extremism for
example)... but it's always been like that. in the
whateverth century (i suck at remembering dates), people
would pay to get a ticket for heaven. there has been the
crusades. the inquisition. etc.

i can't tell for sure for freedom, but this word has surely
been used abusively before today too...

John wrote that list.

Think about what he's saying with the words.

I guess you need to know him before you'll understand that
list, since they're just words.

For immigration, he's referring to the scaremongering that's
whipped up by people (like the conservatives and BNP in
england).

and as i said for freedom, he's referring to the raping of
its meaning by politicians.. the word is almost throw-away
now.

surely you'd have copped that if he really was against
immigration, then he'd not have listed "Deportation" as the
next thing on the list?

silly rabbit. :)

JOHN'S A COCK! Yes I understand what he means after reading
your posts, it's just a very strange way of writing it. He
could have written it like that. Instead, the way he did
write it made it appear that he was against immigration etc,
not against the way we deal with it, as he put it next to
other things he hates, such as emo hairstyles etc. :)
