YOU need someone like Saddam to run a place like Ira.
America is too PC to show strength.

If there wasn't an insurgency then there wouldn't be
destruction. It'd be all happy faces and rainbows. But
there
is an insurgency, and we have to deal with it. The Iraqi
government doesn't seem to want us to go. They know if we
don't help fix things other foreign entities will come and
take over. They don't want that.

And no, we are not worse than terrorists. We have
standards,
respect for humanity. The terrorists don't. If they had
their way with you it'd be your allegiance to Islam or your
head. America can give a fuck about Sweden, you mean no
harm
to use, we mean none to you.

wow, you're deluding yourself impressively there.

the iraqi "government" has actually had the gall to ask the
americans to get the fuck out. now. not in the near future,
they want them out now.

an awful lot of anti-american sentiment in the arab world is
caused by the presence of american military bases in arabic
states and holy cities, which is a total insult to them.

"seek and ye shall receive."

And the Americans have standards, as opposed to the
terrorists? they have respect for humanity? hardly.

Locking people up without access to a lawyer, without a
charge? kidnapping people and transporting them across the
world to locations where torture is legal and
run-of-the-mill?

get a fucking grip. you guys have completely lost the moral
highground. you had the whole world's sympathies after 9-11
and now you're the most detested nation on earth.

someone said that on the telly just before the iraq war,
couldnt agree more

Having sympathy is kinda useless though. I agree the war in
Iraq was wrong, but I have the feeling the rest of the world
wanted us to roll over and become a weaker country and do
the things they wanted us to do. Any action would have been
frowned upon.

"but I have the feeling the rest of the world wanted us to
roll over and become a weaker country and do the things they
wanted us to do"

most of those running other countries wanted it. but if you
remember there were huge protests against it all over the
world just before it started.

Make no mistake. many Europeans have become rich off
America. The usa provides glass cieling for investment.
Americans aren't the only ones reaping the benefits of
American dominance.

usually the non capitalist are against wars mind you. which
is the majority i would say.

the non capitalists are enjoying a level of comfort most
likely without realizing they too are reaping the rewards of
capitalism. Its permeated all the world. This is not an
argument for the Iraq war. I have no idea where im going
with this.

Next time you see a non capitalist are they wearing Nikes?
Do they have a favorite coffee? Do they use a computer
running either Windows or Mac? Do they own a car and do the
have a preference? When they fly, do they like a certain
ariline? Do they have a favorite toothpaste? Do they own an
ipod? etc....etc....

Politicians everywhere are the same and I bet that most of
European ones are perfectly happy that someone else does the
dirty job needed to sustain our level of life. The majority
of societies aren't sympathetic intellectuals and they would
be fucking pissed if luxury goods became less affordable.
And I bet that most anti-capitalists aren't willing to pay
who or three times the price if a computer comes with a
guarantee that workers got all the benefits they deserved.

..but if they weren't so cheap we'd might as well make it
here and then cheap workers would have nothing at all...

neither you nor bogala seem to have met or talked to real
"anti-capitalists"..

you're calling them "anti-capitalists" and "non-capitalists"
for god's sake..

Who are those real ones? The ones in Ireland? Mine
deffinately preferred the prefix "anti" and liked to show
off bruises from police batons. At the moment the one I was
closest to settled in the USA and is very happy.

I called them non capitalists cause tolstoyed called em
that. I just like people to practice what they preach. I
could have used the term socialist or Marxist, but I kept it
non capitalist for continuity.

I'll take your bait. I'm not a socialist. I'm not a Marxist.
I like variety. I don't believe in unionizing Macdonald's
workers. I do believe in ethical treatment of workers,
though. I do believe corporations should be looked after
closely. I think it is abhorrent that politicians get paid
off by big business. I think paying immigrants 2 dollars an
hour is wrong. I'm not against out sourcing work to places
that pay less as long as the wages are relative to the
standard of living in that region. I believe in proper
policing of global and local business as long as competition
is fair and healthy. I am for ethical capitalism.

I guess that would lead me to be for privatization of many
public services that Europe enjoys. There is a balance
there, but I don't trust that my gov (usa) spends its money
wisely in the first place.

Not really though. That's why we have laws. Granted. They
get broken. Nothing is perfect. The system isn't perfect
now. There is always a trade off.

Business has to get out of the pockets of the politicians.
That's where, imho, the problems start.

Oh and I do see caveats in America. The horizon in the usa
hardly looks like the french country side or Italian
countryside. Affordability, durability and quick results
have there negative sides. Vynil siding for one. The lazy
side of me is kinda jealous of the job for life and the
nanny state style of government found in france.
