It's a bit complicated: the first 'pusher release I heard
was Hard Normal daddy and I was amazed. But than when I
heard Big Loada I nearly shat my pants. It used to be my
fave 'pusher record for a long time. I liked Music is
rotted... but think that mostof the following releases were
half baked, stumbling-through-darkness attempts. The early
EP's collected on Burning 'n tree are also great (but if you
hear them after Big loada and HNDaddy, they sound a bit
naive, but still full on energy assault). Anyway, Go plastic
is his most mature, most complex, most serious, most funny,
fastest and best release so far. Which isn't to say that
this will mean anything to you.

Some of his acoustic piano stuff on Drukqs sounds like
Thelonius Monk in some ways. Actium, from SAW v1, is VERY
jazzy with that mellow keyboard riff that repeats
throughout.

I think the obvious influence for Aphex's piano stuff is
Eric Satie. At least that's how people have seen it in
reviews.

Go plastic tends to be a little complicated but it's
supertight and really really pushes Squarpusher's tactic of
setting your expactations and than working against them,
further into the space. I like it.

Oh, by the way, Drunken Mastah, sorry that we turned this
topic into something completely different, let's talk
hip-hop and IDM stuff, have you heard Machine drum?
Personally, I prefer it to Prefuse 73.

(Don't worry about changing the topic.. i just try to get

By the way.. i still think that Tom Waits or Busta rhymes
could make a good mix with Aphex..

Uh, everybody seems to be asking me about the picture since
i've uploaded it. It's the cover of Merzbow's Music for
bondage performance. Merzbow is my hero.

with IDM.
